The annual “Sleepy Hollow Fall Festival” returns to Vevay this weekend — and with a slate filled with events, it promises to be an incredible weekend.
Beginning tomorrow (Friday, October 8th), the Crusin’ Classic Car Show will kick off at the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park. The Cruise In begins at 6 p.m. tomorrow night, with live music by Johnny Collins and Family beginning at 6 p.m.
Those wanting to register for the car show may do so by calling the Switzerland County Welcome Center at (812) 427-3237.
Things really get rolling on Saturday, October 9th — with events uptown as well as the car show at Ogle Park.
At the park: everyone will be able to wander through all of the cars from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; with trophies being awarded at 4 p.m.
An added attraction on the river will be a performance by Allan Cochran & The Crestliners from 2-4 p.m.
Alan Cochran & the Crestliners haven’t forgotten the sounds from the glory days of Doo Wop, and have given themselves to the concept of being a kind of “curator” to the raw sounds of early rock n’ roll. If you close your eyes you can still feel the raw energy of a moment in time that should never be forgotten. That season, that blast of brilliance still shines after all of these years.
A decade of sock hops, sweetheart dances, high school proms, malt shops and nickel juke boxes playing the tunes of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Richey Valens, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, The Platters, The Crests, The Coasters, The Diamonds and so many more great Rock & Roll and Doo Wop artists. Be sure and catch the concert, and enjoy a memorable trip back to The Fabulous Fifties.
Also on Friday and Saturday is a new event for the community, as Vevay Main Street hosts its first “Meet Me on Main Street” vintage camper rally. All of those unique and vintage campers will also be a part of an open house at the RVTown Campground in the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park on Saturday from 2-4 p.m.
The streets of Vevay will welcome Fall on Saturday with a wide range of events for the annual ‘Sleepy Hollow’ celebration.
The Sleepy Hollow Craft Show will be held all around the Switzerland County Courthouse Square on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and along with craft vendors the Switzerland County Lions Club will be serving bean soup and pork burgers. Those in attendance may also catch a glimpse of the Headless Horseman as he makes his way around town during the day.
From unique cars and trucks to vintage campers to all sorts of arts and crafts and other events, this weekend’s event is sure to have something for everyone.
