Pacers wrap regular season with 51-6 loss to Milan

The Switzerland County Pacer varsity football team completed its regular season last Friday night with a 51-6 road loss to Milan.

The Indians scored all 51 of their points in the first half — including 37 in the opening quarter and 14 more in the second period.

Switzerland County got its lone score of the contest in the final period when Lucas Hutchinson scored on a one yard run.

Overall, the Pacer offense continues to stumble towards Sectional play, and on Friday they amassed just 82 total yards — 80 of those on the ground and two through the air. Hutchinson was 1-for-7 passing for two net yards and he also suffered an interception. Bryce Turner was 0-for-3 passing with an interception.

Switzerland County did manage some tough yards rushing, led on Friday by Dakota Wallace, who rushed six times for 47 yards, including a 42 yard run. Hutchinson had 14 rushes for 31 yards and the touchdown, and that was highlighted by a 30 yards scamper. He also had two fumbles. Tyler Hoskins had two rushing attempts for 10 yards.

Defensively, Carl Abplanalp had a great night, recording eight tackles, including three tackles for a loss, and he also had one assist.

Hutchinson had three tackles, including one for a loss and one tackle assist; Wallace had two tackles and one assist; Nick Gatto had two tackles and two assists; Ryan Hart had two tackles and three assists; Gavin Reese had a tackle and an assist; Gabe Jackson had a tackle; Tyler Lieland had a tackle and recovered a fumble; Hoskins had two tackle assists; Tommy Coyne had an assist; as did Brevon May and Sam Galbreath.

The loss drops Switzerland County’s overall  record to 3-5 heading into tomorrow (Friday) night’s home Sectional game against Triton Central.

The Tigers come into Sectional play as the favorite to win the Sectional, sporting a record of 7-1 overall. Triton Central and Switzerland County have no common opponents on the season, so it will be fresh faces for Coach Ryan Jesop and his Pacer force.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. here.
