Pacer track teams are off and running to impressive starts this season

The Switzerland County High School boys and girls track teams are off to an impressive start this season.

At Southwestern

  On Tuesday night, April 6th, the Pacers traveled to Southwestern, with the girls earning first place overall and the boys coming in fourth.

  In the girls meet, the Lady Pacers won every running event except two on their way to a dominant evening:

  • The 3,200-meter relay team of Brooklyn Flanders, Macy Collier, Cheyenne Wick, and Gracie White won the event.

  • Carly Bennett won the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the long jump.

  • Raylinn Kappes won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

  • The team of Terra Oeffinger, Megan Wetzel, Flanders, and Kappes won the 400-meter relay.

  • White won the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run.

  • Wetzel won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and was third in the 100-meter dash.

  • The 1,600-meter relay was won by the team of Kappes, Flanders, Wetzel, and White.

  • Oeffinger was second in the 100-meter hurdles.

  • Collier was third in the high jump.

  • Hannah Hayes was third in the shot put and fourth in the discus.

  • Dakota Richards was fourth in the 400-meter dash.

  • Alisha Detmer was second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; second in the 1,600-meter run; second in the 3,200-meter run; and fourth in the high jump.

  • Flanders was fifth in the 200-meter dash.

  In the boys meet, the Pacers battled some injuries but still had outstanding efforts:

  • The 400-meter relay team of Myles Covington, Matt Davis, Tyler Hoskins and JW Goldsberry earned Switzerland County’s only blue ribbon on the night.

  • Nathan Furnish was second in the 800-meter run and third in the 1,600-meter run.

  • Aiden Furnish was third in the 110-meter hurdles.

  • Covington was third in the 100-meter dash.

  • Nathan Jones was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

  • JW Goldsberry was fifth in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash.

  • Dylan Sullivan was sixth in the 1,600-meter run.

  • The 1,600-meter relay team of Jaydon Day, Davis, Hoskins, and Nathan Furnish finished third.

  • The 3,200-meter relay team of Day, Sullivan, Levi Goldsberry, and Nathan Furnish finished fourth.

  • Day was fourth in the 400-meter dash.

  • Davis was fifth in the high jump.

Home Meet 

  On Thursday night, April 8th, the Pacers hosted a four-team event with Rising Sun, Jac-Cen-Del, and Shawe Memorial.

  The Lady Pacers finished in second place overall, just eight points out of the win:

  • Kappes won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

  • Kappes, Oeffinger, Wetzel, and Flanders won the 400-meter relay.

  • White won the 400-meter dash and the 1,600-meter run and was fourth in the 800-meter run.

  • Detmer won the 800-meter run and the 3,200-meter run; and was second in the 1,600-meter run.

 • The 1,600-meter relay was won by Kappes, Flanders, Wetzel, and White.

  • Collier was third in the high jump.

  • Wetzel was third in the 100-meter dash and third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

  • Richards was third in the 400-meter dash.

  • Hayes was third in the shot put with a personal record and fourth in the discus.

  • Flanders was fifth in the 200-meter dash.

  ª Bennett was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

 • The 400-meter relay team of  Covington, Davis, Hoskins and JW Goldsberry earned first place.

 • Aiden Furnish won the 110-meter hurdles and was fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

  • Davis won the 100-meter dash.

  • Nathan Furnish was second in the 1,600-meter run, third in the 400-meter dash, and fourth in the 800-meter run.

  • JW Goldsberry was third in the 200-meter dash.

  • Covington was third in the 100-meter dash.

  • Sullivan was third in the 3,200-meter run.

  • The 1,600-meter relay team of Darion Graham, Davis, Hoskins, and Nathan Furnish finished third.

  • Sam Galbreath was third in the discus and third in the shot put.

  • Nathan Jones was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

  • Hoskins was fourth in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

  • Day was fourth in the 400-meter dash and fifth in the long jump.

  • Levi Goldsberry was fifth in the discus.

  • Hunter Franklin was fifth in the shot put.
