Pacer soccer earns two wins over Salem, Rising Sun

  The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity soccer team is on a roll, earning two big wins over the past week.

Salem

  On Tuesday, August 24th, the Pacers beat Salem with a final score of 2-0. Head coach David Todd said that the Pacers defense played a very solid overall game to earn the shutout.

  Following a trend that they have set each game this season Switzerland County out shot their opponents and had more shots on goal. In the Salem game, it was 40-15 on shots and 16-7 shots on goal.

  Tirso Martinez scored in the first half and Cooper Todd scored in the second half on an assist from Austin Bosaw.

  Goalie Aiden Furnish had seven saves for the game.

Rising Sun

  On Wednesday, August 25th, for the first time in recent memory, the Pacers beat Rising Sun. The final score was 7-3.

  Coach Todd said that the Pacers defense played another solid overall game as they followed the game plan to make it difficult on the Shiners.

  Once again Switzerland County out shot their opponents and had more shots on goal. In the Rising Sun game, it was 23-12 on shots and 20-10 shots on goal.

  Austin Bosaw and Cooper Todd each scored a goal and there was an own goal as well. Levi Curlin had three assists, Ben Hicks had two assists; and Todd also had an assist.

  Goalie Aiden Furnish had eight saves for the game.

  Switzerland County is now 3-2 with a conference record of 1-1.
