Connie Jean “Con” Scott Gabbard, age 78, of Cross Plains, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6th, 2021, at the Margaret Mary Hospital Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana.
Connie entered this life on December 31st, 1942 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late John R. and Irma M. Heiderman Scott. She was raised in Cross Plains and resided in the same home for her entire 78 years. She graduated from Cross Plains High School and was a member of the Cross Plains Baptist Church.
She worked early in life for the U.S. Shoe Corporation in Vevay and for the Halcomb family as housekeeper. She retired after 28 years of service to the South Ripley School Corporation, where she was a custodian.
She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Gabbard on November 2nd, 1974 in Tennessee. She was blessed to raise her children: Marsha, Ed, Mark, Lisa, Andy, and Billy.
Connie loved mowing her lawn, raising beautiful flowers and gardens. She enjoyed coaching softball for five years and teaching her children to play softball. If Connie wasn’t home you would find her hanging out and socializing at the Cross Plains Store. Connie enjoyed being a mom and grandma and never met a stranger.
Connie will be missed by her loving daughters: Marsha Scott Foley and her husband Greg of Madison and Lisa Redwine and her husband Fred of Madison; by her loving sons: Ed Robinson and his wife Tracy of Cross Plains, Mark Robinson and his wife Bobbi Jo of Madison, Andy Robinson and his wife Lisa of Cross Plains, and Billy Gabbard and his wife Lori of Cross Plains; by her grandchildren: Brett Scott, Kelly Dirksen, Amanda Marie Robinson, Mark Edward Robinson, Jr., Heather Carlock, Joshua Robinson, Jeffrey Robinson, Brandon Curtis Cope, Brandon Redwine, Ryan Tyler Redwine, Brett Redwine, Jessica Marie Conover US Navy, Michael Darren Conover, Katelynn Lee Gay, Nicholas Andrew Robinson, William Tyler Gabbard, Devon Glenn Gabbard, and Matthew Phillip Meisberger; by her great-grandchildren: Logan William Scott, Hannah Smith, Eli Smith, Logan Scott, Luke Carlock, Derek Carlock, Kolton Carlock, Mackenzie Jade Robinson, Mariah Lola Lynn Robinson, Tyson Nicholas Robinson, Wyatt Joseph Robinson, Kaitlyn Cope, Brock Cope, Madison Redwine, Maddox Redwine, Maisyn Redwine, Whitney Redwine, Emmy Redwine, Emma Marie Gay, and Aleeah Marie Robinson; by her sister-in-law Roberta Scott of Versailles, Indiana; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, John R. Scott; by her mother, Irma M. Heiderman Scott, who died on April 28th, 1989; by her brother, Kenneth Wayne Scott; and by her half brother, Larry West.
Friends were invited to pay their respects to the family on Sunday, July 11th, at the South Ripley Junior High School Gymnasium in Versailles. Funeral services were conducted following the time of visitation on Sunday, July 11th, by Pastor Scott Elston at the Junior High School gymnasium. Interment followed in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison.

Gladys (Harlow) Hunt, age 91, of Florence, Indiana, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Friday, July 9th, 2021 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.
She was born on July 20th, 1929 in Switzerland County, he daughter of James Otis and Lenna Mae (Stewart) Harlow.
Gladys was raised in Switzerland County as the family moved from farm to farm early in her life. The family bought a farm in Fairview, Indiana and the Harlow family was finally settled. Gladys was a 1949 graduate of the Vevay High School.
On May 20th, 1949, she married the love of her life, Burnie Hunt at the Switzerland Baptist Parsonage. Together they raised two sons, Ernie and Gene, and shared over 67 years of marriage until Burnie’s death on October 2nd, 2016.
Gladys was employed for the Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, retiring on August 1st, 1994, after 23 years of service.
She was also a member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church in Quercus Grove, Indiana. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as, traveling and listening to bluegrass music.
Gladys will be missed by her son, Gene Hunt of Madison; by her grandchildren: Chanda Hart and her companion Jesse Covington, Danny Hunt and his wife Bridget, Jo Mayer and her husband Jason, Kelsey Hunt, and Jacob Hunt; by her great-grandchildren: Lane, Kelli and her companion Trisston, Ryan, Aleiah, Malachi, Zadie, James, Alice and Henry; by her great great-granddaughter, Heidi; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Otis Harlow, who died on May 4th, 1972; by her mother, Lenna Mae (Stewart) Harlow, who died on November 10th, 1963; by her husband, Burnie Hunt, who died on October 2nd, 2016; by her son, Ernie Lee Hunt, who died on November 9th, 1996; by her daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Hunt, who died on January 3rd, 2003; by her infant brother, Charles Harlow, who died on September 17th, 1919; by her infant sister, Norma Harlow, who died on October 15th, 1931; by her sisters: Anna “Thelma” Thurnall, who died on March 26th, 2006 and Edith Dugle, who died on April 7th, 2021; and by her brothers: Marion E. “Bud” Harlow, who died on March 22nd, 2011 and Gerald James “Jerry” Harlow, who died on September 10th, 2016.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 13th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Funeral services were conducted following the time of visitation on Tuesday, July 13th, by Reverend Mike Jones at the funeral home. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.

Nancy Jane (Andrews) Irrgang, 66, of Rising Sun, passed away on Thursday, July 8th, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones and fur babies.
Nancy was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 18th, 1954, the daughter of Wilford D. Andrews and the late Edna Elizabeth (Smith) Andrews. She was a graduate of North Dearborn High School, Class of 1972.
Nancy married Donald R. Irrgang on September 14th, 1991. Nancy and Don were married over 29 years until her passing.
Nancy worked as a Dental Assistant for 39 years in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, first for Dr. Ford until his retirement in 1997 and then for Dr. Oyler.
Nancy formerly attended St. John’s United Church in Harrison, where she was very active, serving as deaconess and board member until failing health prevented her attendance.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Donald Irrgang, of Rising Sun; by her father, Wilford “Bill” Andrews, of Greensburg, Indiana; by her son, Benjamin Irrgang, of Rising Sun; by her two daughters: Stephanie Irrgang of Seminole, Florida and Stacy Irrgang of Palmetto, Florida; by her grandchildren: Ellie, Brayden, Shay, Ava and Ella; and by her three brothers: Robert Andrews (Debra), of Brookville, Indiana; Charles “Chuck” Andrews (Betty), of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Richard Andrews (Barb), of Greendale, Indiana. She is also survived by her beloved pups, Buddy, Brent and Boone.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Elizabeth Andrews in 1997; and by her sister, Carol Sue Smith in 2017.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 12th, at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13th at the funeral home; with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Alberta G. (Green) Reed, age 93, of Waldron, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, passed away at 12:53 a.m. on Thursday, July 8th, 2021 at the Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville, Indiana.
She was born on January 20th, 1928 on Plum Creek Road in Switzerland County, the daughter of the late Andrew and Sadie Mae (Peters) Green. Alberta was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1945 graduate of Vevay High School.
Alberta was united in marriage to Meredith “Red” Reed on May 29th, 1953 in Madison. Although Alberta and Red were never blessed with children, they were blessed with a niece, Donna whom they raised. Alberta and Red shared nearly 27 years of marriage until his death on March 15th, 1980.
Alberta was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was well known for her savory homemade bread and yeast rolls.
Alberta will be missed by her daughter, Donna Scott and her husband Jeff of Waldron, Indiana; by her grandchildren: Somer Case Eads and her husband Mark of Greenfield, Indiana, Trevor James Scott of Hill Air Force Base, Utah, Jake William Scott and his wife Angeline of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Travis Case of Waldron, Indiana; by her great-grandchildren: Trenton, Harlan and Waylan; by her sisters: Linda Poling of Quercus Grove and Lucille Phillips and her husband Cherry of Vevay; by her brother, Ivan Green and his wife Dollie of Patriot; by her sister-in-law, Billie Green of Vevay; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Peter Green, who died on December 28th, 1946; by her mother, Sadie Mae (Peters) Green, who died on July 21st, 1985; by her husband, Meredith E. “Red” Reed, who died on March 15th, 1980; by her sisters: Dorothy Mae Scott, who died on June 1st, 1960, Meredith Scudder, who died on April 26th, 2010, and Mary Catherine McManis, who died on April 23rd, 2021; and by her brothers: Marvin Green, who died on November 27th, 1967, Allen Green, who died on May 15th, 1986, Arthur “Buddy” Green, who died on August 23rd, 2011, Charles Green, who died on October 19, 2015 and Galen M. Green, who died on November 30th, 2019.

Paul Edward Lanman, 83, of Centerville, Indiana passed away Tuesday, July 13th at his residence. Arrangements are pending at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home in Richmond, Indiana.
