Paul Douglas McDole, age 68, of Vevay, passed away at 6:13 a.m. on Saturday, May 1st, 2021, in Vevay.
Paul entered this life on April 30th, 1953 in Aurora, Indiana. He was raised in Aurora, Indiana where he graduated high school.
Paul was united in marriage to Beverly Kay Mathews on February 29th, 1992 in Carrollton, Kentucky. This happy union was blessed with a son, Andrew.
Paul was employed for Stedman Foundry in Aurora, Indiana and General Electric in Ohio for several years. He was also employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay until its closing. He was later employed as a trainer for Levi Strauss Company in Hebron, Kentucky, retiring on November 8th, 2019 after 20 years of service.
Paul was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #2022 of Aurora, Indiana. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers, NASCAR, grilling out in the Summer and playing video games.
Paul will be missed by his son, Andrew McDole of Vevay; by his caretaker, Beverly Kay (Mathews) McDole of Vevay; by his step-children: Casey Mathews and Michael Meisberger; by his grandchildren: Jaden, Ethan, Andrea and Kensly; by his brother, Robert “Bobby” McDole of Vevay; by his sister, Debbie Bamberger of Sunman, Indiana; by his nephews and niece: Doug, Paul, Dave and Holly; by his aunt, Mable Carver of Rising Sun; and by his uncle and best friend, Donnie Hankins of Bennington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Douglas and Emma Lee McDole; by his sister, Linda Lou McDole; by his brother, David Luther McDole; and by his sister-in-law, Linda Joyce (Hash) McDole.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8th, by Reverend Mike Jones at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of King’s Daughters’ Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
Daniel Parham, 48, of Toledo, Ohio passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 25th, 2021.
He was born on September 4th, 1972 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Joseph Parham and Brenda Adkins. The family moved to Vevay in 1986, where Dan met the love of his life, Sandra Sunderhaus.
Dan and Sandra were married on April 18th, 1993.
Together in 1996, they built their first home in Dillsboro, Indiana then Dan began his business, D&S Boring, Inc. After several years, they moved to Perrysburg, Ohio to raise their two children and Dan resumed his business. He was an entrepreneur, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend to so many.
When he had the time, he loved being outdoors, grilling out, camping out, kayaking, and four wheeling.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sandra; by his children: Bridge and Jake; by his siblings: Joe (Crystal), Scott (Ginny), Shelley (Phillip), and Tracy (Jimmy); and by his nieces and his nephews: Michael, Randy (Jacob), Amber (Dustin), Rachael, Shantell, Lensi (Brandon), Mercedes, Joel, Kyle (Kelly), Evan, and Ava.
A Gathering of Family and Friends was held on Saturday, May 1st, at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio, 43551. Services were held immediately after the family gathering. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Park, 3665 Genoa Road, Perrysburg, Ohio, 43551.
Charles ‘Chuck’ Pickett
Charles Brennen “Chuck” Pickett, age 82, of Vevay, passed away at 10:02 a.m. on Thursday, April 29th, 2021, at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.
Chuck entered this life on February 17th, 1939 in Vevay. He was the loving son of the late Joseph B. and Evelyn “Eva” (Romans) Pickett. He was raised in Switzerland County where he attended school.
Charles was united in marriage to Alberta Avalon Wiley on November 15th, 1969 in Vevay. Chuck and Alberta shared 51 years of marriage together until she passed away on January 9th, 2021.
He was employed for the Switzerland County Highway Department for eight years, Pierson-Hollowell in Lawrenceburg, Indiana for several years; and for SETA in Vevay.
Charles was a member of the Florence Church of Christ in Florence, Indiana. Charles enjoyed farming all of his life and watching westerns and John Wayne movies, gardening and spending time with his family. Chuck was a family man and had a big heart. He never met a stranger and enjoyed socializing with his family and friends and loved children.
Charles will be missed by his daughter, Sheila Rininger and her husband Casey of Vevay; by his step-son, Steven Fields and his wife Anna of Rising Sun; by his grandchildren, Frank and Tiffany Rininger; by his step-grandchildren: Clinton, Victoria, Jacob, Thomas, Casey and Brian; by his great-grandson, Colton; by his step-great-grandchildren: Lexi, Lily, Lacey, Bradley, Cameron, Brian, Corey, Bryce, Kaleb, Landon, Paige, Preslie and Paxton; and by his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Avalon (Wiley) Pickett, who died on January 9th, 2021; by his father, Joseph Brennen Pickett, who died on July 19th, 1962; by his mother, Evelyn “Eva” (Romans) Pickett, who died on June 23rd, 1995; by his sisters: Beulah Jane “Janie” Miller, who died on April 17th, 1990, Mary K. Jones, who died on May 31st, 2009, and Betty Jo Lewis, who died on July 31st, 2010.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 3rd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.
Funeral services were then conducted after the time of visitation on Monday, May 3rd by Brother Roy Duckworth, at the funeral home.
Interment followed in the Florence Cemetery.
Holly Marie Sommer, 69, of Bear Branch, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 27th, 2021 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.
Holly was born in Milan, Indiana on November 9th, 1951, the daughter of the late Patsy (Ricketts) Hussung and George Hussung. Holly grew up in the Aurora community and was a graduate of Aurora High School, Class of 1969.
On January 27th, 1973 Holly married David E. Sommer. Holly and David were married over 47 years until his passing on September 11th, 2020.
Holly last worked as a cook at Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun. She also had worked for McDonald’s for several years.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bear Branch, and was active in the women’s group there, when her health allowed. Holly also enjoyed reading.
Holly is survived by her two daughters: Stacie Ely and her husband Eric of Aberdeen, Indiana and Stephanie King and her husband Ronnie of Patriot; by her three grandchildren: Taylor, Dakota and Cheyenne; by her sister, Penny Hunt of Dillsboro, Indiana; and by her brother, Eric Hussung and his wife Jodi of Aurora, Indiana.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 3rd at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 4th at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Hill officiating. Burial was in the Marker-Althoff Cemetery in Bear Branch.

Darrin Scott Atwood, age 49, of Fairland, Indiana, formerly of Switzerland County, passed away on Monday, May 3rd, 2021, at his residence.
