Deborah Freudenberg

  Deborah Ann Freudenberg, age 69, of Vevay, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 17th, 2021, at the Hickory Creek at Madison in Madison.

  Deborah entered this life on April 9th, 1952 in Batesville, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Dietrich Bernard and Laura (Swango) Freudenberg. She was raised in Sunman, Indiana and Bridgetown, Ohio where she attended St. Jude Catholic School.

  Deborah was united in marriage on March 5th, 1973 in Springfield, Indiana to the late Jerry Len Earl. This union was blessed with two sons: Frank and Wayne.

  Deborah was employed with the U.S. Shoe Factory for 10 years and Richardson Industries for five years in Vevay. She was also employed as a dish washer for Roxano’s Restaurant in Vevay for five years.

  Deborah enjoyed listening to country music, crocheting, reading and playing guitar as well as, spending quality time with her family and friends.

  Deborah will be missed by her sons: Frank Harold Earl and his fiancée Angela Clayton of Holton, Indiana and Wayne William Earl of Vevay; by her step-grandson, Robert W. “Carson” Wooten of Lexington, Indiana; by her sisters: Sharon Watson and her husband Joe of Cross Plains, Indiana, Kathy Stowell of Gary, Indiana and Diane Breaker and her husband Mark of Harrison, Ohio; by her brother, David Freudenberg of Cincinnati, Ohio; by her sister-in-law, Linda Barrett of Florida; and by her several nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents: Dietrich Bernard and Laura (Swango) Freudenberg; and by her brother, Bobby Freudenberg.

  Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, April 22nd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Funeral services will then be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 22nd, by Reverend Mike Jones, at the funeral home.

Paul Bryan Hayes

  Paul Bryan Hayes, age 53, of Vevay, passed away on Wednesday, April 14th, 2021, at his residence in Vevay.

  Bryan entered this life on June 22nd, 1967 in Madison. He was the son of Paul Vernon and Loretta Mae (McKenzie) Hayes of Vevay. He was raised in Switzerland County, and was a 1985 graduate of Switzerland County High School.

  Bryan was inducted into the United States Air Force on January 17th, 1986 in Louisville, Kentucky. He earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. Bryan was honorably discharged with the rank of Senior Airman on January 16th, 1990 at the Langley Air Force Base in Virginia

  Bryan was united in marriage to Judy Gail Hankinson on May 23rd, 1991 in Carrollton, Kentucky. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Kayla Mae.

  Bryan was formerly employed for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, for two years. He was a former shipping department supervisor for Advanced Concepts in Florence, Kentucky for 27 years. Bryan was also employed for Dorman Products in Warsaw, Kentucky for five years and for Grote Industries in Madison, Indiana for one year.

  Bryan resided all of his life in the Switzerland County community and was a former member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396. He enjoyed spending quality time with his granddaughter, Shelby Mae and watching NASCAR, IU basketball and Cincinnati Reds. Bryan also loved reading his Bible, golfing, drawing and coloring.

  Bryan will be deeply missed by his loving daughter, Kayla Mae Hayes of Greendale, Indiana; by his granddaughter, Shelby Mae Owings of Greendale, Indiana; by his brothers: Todd Hayes and his wife Kris of Boise, Idaho and Jamie Hayes of Vevay; by his nieces and nephews: Dustin Hayes, Andy Prussner, Linsey Hayes, Ryan Prussner, Paul Kyle Hayes, Nathan Smith, Kollin Hayes and Leigh Hayes; by his great-nieces and great-nephews: Jaxson, Jon, Allie, Nic, Aubree, Isaiah and Elijah; by his aunts and uncles: Donald and Mardi McKenzie of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Lona Mathews of Largo, Florida, Betty Scott of Vevay, Judy Kay White of Vevay, Lynda McKenzie of Vevay, Betty Pavy of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Robert Hayes of Rising Sun, and Ronnie and Betty Hayes of East Enterprise; and numerous cousins.

  He was preceded in death by his maternal-grandparents, Leslie McKenzie and Mary Ellen (Cole) McKenzie- McClellan; by his paternal-grandparents, James P. and Olive M. (Lewis) Hayes; by his niece, Megan Shelby Hayes; by his uncles: Lewis Edward McKenzie, David “Buck” White, Richard “Rick” McKenzie, Elmer Lloyd “Dumpy” White, Ernest Ray “Ernie” McKenzie, Robert Lee “Hardly” McKenzie, Donald Hayes and Kenneth C. “Bucky” Pavy; and by his cousin, Loni Amber Lynn Turner.

  Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 21st, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Funeral services followed the time of visitation on Wednesday, April 21st, officiated by Reverend Mike Jones at the funeral home.

  Full military rites were conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the funeral home.

Doris ‘Carolyn’ Kelley

  Doris “Carolyn” Kelley, age 85, of Springdale, Ohio, passed away at 7:33 p.m. surrounded by her loved ones at her home on Saturday, April 17th, 2021.

  Carolyn entered this life on June 27th, 1935 in Florence, Indiana. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Ivy “Pearl” (Boom) Chase of Florence, Indiana, where she grew up and went to school.

  She retired from Continental Can after 18 years of service and worked in her later years serving up donuts at Buskin Bakery in Springdale, Ohio.

  Her love was her family and playing Bingo.

  She is the beloved wife to Lawrence Kelley of Springdale, Ohio for 69 years. Loving mother to Ricky (Denise) Kelley, Westland, Michigan, Vickie (Dave) Jones, East Enterprise, Mark (Shari) Kelley, Seven Mile, Ohio, Karen (Doug) Lakes, Edon, Ohio, Kevin (Vicki) Kelley, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kristi (Keith) Sizemore, Mason, Ohio. She was a dear Grandma to 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sisters, Bonnie Duvall and Sharon Lauderbaugh, both of Indiana and several nieces and nephews, family and friends.

  She is preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, James Chase; by her two sisters, JoAnn Smith and Oleta Walston; and by her grandchild, Brian Paul Kelley.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 22nd, with visitation at 10 am until time of service, which will be held at noon and officiated by Pastor R.J. Davis at the Spring Grove Funeral Home Tri County, 11285 Princeton Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45246. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Shelby Minch-Garland

  Shelby Jean Tingle Minch-Garland, age 83, of Vevay, formerly of Lamb, passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Thursday, April 15th, 2021, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Vevay.

  Shelby entered this life on October 23rd, 1937 in Port Royal, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of Gilbert Carroll and Leona Raisor Tingle. She was raised in the Brooksburg and Vevay communities and attended school there, later earning her GED.

  She was united in marriage to Wyatt G. Minch on February 2nd, 1955 in Fayette County, Kentucky. This happy union of 40 years was blessed with a daughter, Deborah, and a son, George.

  Shelby Jean worked for many years caring and babysitting for many local families. She last worked for the U.S. Corporation in Vevay for five years. She loved gardening, embroidery and crocheting, plus was an awesome cook, baker, decorator and avid NASCAR fan, especially driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Shelby Jean loved holidays, especially Christmas and had a collection of roosters.

  She was a loving wife, devoted mom, granny, sister, aunt and friend. Shelby Jean was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church at Lamb and loved participating in the Homemakers Club.

  Shelby Jean will be missed by her husband, Benny D. Garland of Vevay; by her loving son, George Minch and his wife Rose of Vevay; by her grandson, Jerry Mahoney, Sr.; by her great-grandchildren: Justin Mahoney (Casey), Jerry Mahoney, Jr., and Joshua Mahoney and his companion Calli Rutherford; by her great great-granddaughter, Trinyti Mahoney; by her sister-in-law, Barb Tingle of Milan, Indiana; by her brothers-in-law: Larry Marsh of North Vernon, Indiana, Harold Romans of Brooksburg, Indiana, and Dave Hewitt of Lamb; by her brother-in-law, Richard Taylor, Sr. of Elrod, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

  She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Carroll Tingle, who died on December 22nd, 1991; by her mother, Leona Raisor Tingle, who died on May 10th, 1976; by her first husband of 40 years, Wyatt G. Minch, who died on August 7th, 1989; by her beloved daughter, Deborah J. “Debbie” Minch, who died on December 8th, 2002; by her sisters: Shirley Ann Hewitt, who died on January 28th, 2017, Lois Anna Taylor, who died on March 11th, 2006, Leora Carol Marsh, who died on May 19th, 2012, and Wilma J. Romans, who died on May 21st, 2016; by her brothers: Charles Tingle, who died on May 26th, 2017, Donald Lee Tingle, who died on November 28th, 2009, Earl Wayne Tingle, who died on March 14th, 2008, and James Everett Tingle; by her nephews: Richard Taylor, Jr., Robert Tingle, Mike Tingle, Larry Carlisle “Charlie” Tingle, and Charles Tingle, Jr.; and by her great niece, Marlena Taylor, who died on October 16th, 1986.

  Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 17th, by Pastor Mike Barnes at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Interment followed in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, 9306 North U.S. 421 in Madison.

  Friends were invited to pay their respects to the family prior to the tome of the funeral service on Saturday, April 17th, at the funeral home.

Russell Randall

  Russell Lee Randall, 80, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 18th, 2021 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville, Indiana.

  Russell was born in Aurora, Indiana on September 11th, 1940, the son of the late Dorothy Lee (Green) and Glenn Harold Randall. Russell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army; and was later employed as a machinist for over 20 years at Hill-Rom.

  On May 5th, 1962, he married Violet Elizabeth Walston. Russell and Violet were married for almost 59 years until his passing.

  Russell was a member of the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post #239 and the Aurora Eagles. Russell was an avid squirrel and rabbit hunter and also enjoyed fishing, painting, and drawing.

  Russell is survived by his wife Violet Randall of Greendale, Indiana; by his son, Russell “Rusty” L. Randall II of Greendale, Indiana; by his daughters: Yvonne Terrell of Aurora, Indiana and Dawn Boyd of Cincinnati, Ohio; by his sisters Elizabeth (Wilford) Hussong of Aurora, Indiana, Rida Gregory of Lincoln Park, Michigan, and Bonnie Laird of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; by his grandchildren: Reid Terrell, Sarah Terrell, Shyenne Randall, Breanne Boyd, Megan Terrell, Ethan Randall, Jessy Boyd, Kelsey (Dominic) Whitko, and Timothy Boyd; by his six great-grandchildren; and by his many nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brothers: Leroy Randall, Dale Randall, Teddy Randall, and Nelson Randall; by his sisters: Joyce Young, Kay Cartwright, Patsy Randall, Sandra Randall, Debbie Baker and infant sister Shirley Randall; and by his brother-in-law, John Gregory.

  A public visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 22nd at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 23rd at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Alex D’Amico and Mark Tanner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hedge Cemetery.

Freda Royce

  Freda Louise Royce, 82, of Rising Sun, passed away on Thursday, April 15th, 2021.

  Freda was born in Carroll County, Virginia on May 22nd, 1938, the daughter of the late Lila Jane (Weddle) Martin and Aubrey Goodwin Martin. She graduated from High School in Logan, West Virginia.

  Freda loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of the East Cooper Baptist Church in South Carolina. She liked daily Bible studies with Les Feldick. She enjoyed adventures which was shown in the many travels throughout the USA that she made with family and friends.

  Freda worked at several jobs over the years, including the Rising Sun State Bank and Aurora Casket Company. Her hobbies included puzzles and politics.

  Freda lived in numerous states and was grateful for her Rising Sun Community and The United States of America’s freedoms.

  She is survived by her twin daughters: Patricia Renee (Robert) Hamilton of Rising Sun and Pamela Jane (Neil) Carter of Antioch, Iliinois; by her sister: Ila Mae Osborne of Fountaintown, Indiana: and by her four grandchildren: Ben Hamilton  of Houston, Texas, Audrey (Tim) Vojtech of Antioch, Illinois, Aaron Carter of Antioch, Illinois, and Adam Carter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Ben Royce, who was the love of her life.

  Private family graveside services were held on Monday, April 19th at the Rising Sun New Cemetery.

  Memorials may be given to the Rising Sun EMS or to the Rising Sun United Methodist Church. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun is serving the family during this difficult time. 

Mavis Uhlmansiek

  Mavis Carole (VanTyle) Uhlmansiek, age 72, of Rising Sun, Mavis passed away at 4:08 p.m. on Sunday April 18th, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare-Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

  Mavis entered this life on August 20th, 1948 in Milan, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Lawrence Earl and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle. She attended Cass Union Elementary School and was a 1966 graduate of Rising Sun High School.

  Mavis was united in marriage on June 23rd, 1966 at the First Baptist Church in Rising Sun, to Mason James Uhlmansiek. This happy union was blessed with two sons: Mark James and Maury Jay; and two daughters: Melinda Carole and Melody Caye. Mavis and Mason shared nearly 55 loving years of marriage together until her death.

  Mavis was employed as the office manager for Ohio County News for 10 years and was later employed as the program assistant for Ohio County 4-H Extension Office for six years. Mavis was later employed for McAlpin’s Department Store at the Tri County Mall as a sales associate for two years and later returned to Ohio County News where she was employed as the office manager for 16 more years.

  Mavis served as past president of the Parent Teacher Association of Rising Sun and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Rising Sun. Mavis attended Rising Sun Methodist Church in Rising Sun.

  Mavis loved Hallmark movies and watching game shows and enjoyed collecting Longaberger baskets. She enjoyed going shopping especially to Hobby Lobby, and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

  Mavis will be deeply missed by her husband, Mason James Uhlmansiek of Rising Sun; by her sons: Mark James Uhlmansiek and his wife Shawna of Rising Sun and Maury Jay Uhlmansiek and his wife Kaye  of Rising Sun; by her daughters: Melinda Carole Kittle of Rising Sun and Melody Caye Alexander and her husband Andy of Rising Sun; by her grandchildren: Mason Carlyle, Anna Marie, Duncan Lawrence, Maury Joshua (Jessica), Matthew Jacob, Tristan Alan, Chelsea Ariana, Zachery Alexander, James Gage and Kaden Ayron; by her great-grandson, Mica Jace; by her sisters: Florence Marie Peters of Vevay, Doris Ann Shadday of Madison, and Lois Brooks of Columbus, Indiana; by her brother, Lawrence Leslie VanTyle and his wife Shirley of Cleves, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Earl VanTyle, who died on February 29th, 2000 and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle, who died on January 21st, 2008; by her infant sister, who died on November 4th, 1932; by her brother, Elmer Nelson VanTyle, who died on August 18th, 1958; by her sister, Lutha Mae Nieman, who died on November 3rd, 2015; by her brothers-in-law: Jim Aldred, who died on May 21st, 1975; James Ernest “Jimmy” Brooks, who died on June 6th, 2020, William “Bill” Shadday, who died on October 21st, 2007, Robert Earl “Bub” Peters, who died on July 16th, 1985, and Richard “Dick” Nieman, who died on April 3rd, 2007; by her nephews, Stephen A. VanTyle, who died on March 20th, 1992 and John David Nieman, who died on January 10th, 1974; by her niece, Jama Lois (Aldred) Hayes, who died on February 6th, 2017; and by her great-nephew, Jonathan Nieman, who died on March 11th, 2003.

  Friends may call 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22nd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 23rd, at 1 p.m., by Pastor Corey Potts at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Rising Sun New Cemetery.
