Alivia Wickstrom Burns

  Alivia Marie (Wickstrom) Burns, 35, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020, at her home.

  Alivia was born in Seymour, Indiana on June 14th, 1984, to Chuck and Barbette (Wagoner) Wickstrom. Alivia was an extraordinary mother, wife, daughter and sister. Spending time with her family was most important to her.

  Alivia was an active member of Blue Grass Church in Evansville, and was a preschool teacher at “Home For Your Heart”. She loved singing in the choir and participating in small group. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, shopping, going to the beach and everything Disney.

  Alivia was strong and courageous in her fight with cancer, and her faith never faltered.

  Alivia is survived by her husband of 10 years, Matthew Burns of Evansville; by her daughter, Hailee Burns; by her sons, Joel Burns and Lukas Burns all of Evansville; by her parents, Chuck and Barbette (Wagoner) Wickstrom of Versailles, Indiana; by her sisters: Danessa Scott (Curtis) of Union, Kentucky and Erica Wickstrom (Mike Waddell) of Ft. Collins, Colorado; by her mother-in-law, Cathy Burns; by her brothers-in-law: Wesley Burns (Heather) and Andy Burns (Tiffany); by her grandmothers: Eva Mae Wagoner and Elaine Cook (Lynn); by her grandmother-in-law, Beverly (Plymire) Sunderman (Marvin) of Evansville; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

  Alivia was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Charles O. Wagoner and Charles Wickstrom; and by her father-in-law, Barry Burns.

  A celebration of Alivia’s life was held on Saturday, February 1st, at Blue Grass Church’s Main Campus in Evansville, with Pastor Doug Heiman officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Evansville. Friends were invited to pay their respects to the family on Friday, January 31st, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 East Diamond Avenue, Evansville; and again on Saturday, February 1st prior to the beginning of the service at the church.

Mary Ruth Poling

  Mary Ruth Poling, 84, of Rising Sun, passed away on Wednesday, January 29th, 2020 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

  Mary was born in Switzerland County on September 5th, 1935, the daughter of the late Ina (Webster) and Everett Brett. She was a 1953 graduate of Vevay High School.

  Mary was the wife of Clyde Robert Poling. Mary and Clyde were married over 62 years until her passing.

  Mary was employed at the Vevay branch of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration for over 40 years. She was a member of the Rising Sun United Methodist Church. Mary was an IU fan, but going to her granddaughter’s ball games is what she enjoyed most.

  Mary is survived by her husband, Clyde R. Poling, of Rising Sun; by her daughter, Jennifer Poling, of Rising Sun; by her two sons: Jeff Poling and wife DeAnna, of Burlington, Kentucky and Alan Poling and wife Tonya, of Rising Sun; by her four granddaughters: Cora Poling, Claire Poling, Emily Fisher and Alicia Poling; and by her one great grandchild on the way.

  Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Ina Brett; by her brother, Marion Brett; by her sister, Melba Dean Littrell; and by her sister-in-law, Myra Brett.

  Funeral services were held on Monday, February 3rd at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Pastor Laura McDonald officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, February 3rd prior to the beginning of the service at the funeral home. Burial was at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
