Mark Sharp is ‘Player of the Week’

The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of January 21st-26th, and Switzerland County junior Mark Sharp has been honored as the “Player of the Week” in boys basketball.

Mark Sharp was honored for his 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists, and six steals in two games.

He shared the honor with Zack Scrogham of Southwestern.

Pacers Kyle Green and Brennan Bragg were honored as “Top Performers”.

Kyle Green was honored for his 39 points and 19 rebounds in two games.

Brennan Bragg was honored for his 14 points and seven rebounds against Milan.

Others honored as “Top Performers” included: Matt Gehl and Blake Sutton of Jac-Cen-Del; Jacob Bump of Madison Shawe; B.J. Sieverding, Trent Tucker and Erik Demaree of South Ripley; and Myles Hornsby of Rising Sun.

In girls basketball, Lady Pacers Courtney Cole and April Thieman were honored as a “Top Performers” for the week.

Courtney Cole was honored for scoring 31 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in two games.

April Thieman was honored for her 10 points and six rebounds against Rising Sun.

Other players honored as “Top Performers” included: Becca Wagner, Kiersten Young, and Kaylin Ploeger of Jac-Cen-Del; Ebony Inskeep and Maria Berry of Madison Shawe; Kendall Withered and Sonja Bowyer of Southwestern; Kelly Stutler and Kady Alloway of Milan; Jaclyn Armbruster of Rising Sun; and Alex Snyder and Erica Ester of South Ripley.

Rachel Muessel of Madison Shawe was honored as the “Players of the Week”.

– In girls basketball:

Courtney Cole is second in the conference in scoring with an average of 16.4 points per game. She’s also fifth in rebounding with an average of 6.3 per game; and is eighth in field goal percentage at .460.

April Thieman is fourth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 7.2 per game; and is eighth in freethrow percentage at .685.

Morgan Ross is third in the ORVC in freethrow percentage at .742, and Amber Smith, is eighth in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 20.

– In boys basketball:

Kyle Green leads the ORVC in scoring with an average of 17.6 points per game; is third in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 30; is sixth in the conference in freethrow percentage at .740; and is ninth in rebounding with an average of 6.0 per game.

Brennan Bragg leads the conference in rebounding with an average of 7.9 per game; is second the conference in field goal percentage at .560; and is eighth in freethrow percentage at .670.

Mark Sharp leads the conference in assists with 81; Daniel Welch is 10th in freethrow percentage at .660; and Clay Meyer is 10th in rebounding with an average of 5.9 per game.
