No to Socialism

To the Editor:

Dear friends, again I feel led by God to write to you and update you and alert you on current political events. The 2020 election will be here before we know it, and to be informed is so important!

The subject is “socialism.” Despite history providing ample evidence of its devastation, socialism has gained a foothold again, this time in the U.S.

Rebranded as “Democratic Socialism”, it follows the same redistribution principles as the “old socialism” and will — believe me, if practiced — will inevitably lead to American downfall!

Remember: socialism is just a step away from Communism!

We live in the most wonderful country in the world, founded on Godly principles by our forefathers who gave us the Bill of Rights; who fought for our freedom so that we might enjoy “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Our youth, the Millenials, need to study history and see it as a lesson. Do we really want government control over our lives? Over means of production and public ownership of all property?

Look to Venezuela, Cuba, Cambodia, China, North Korea, etc. Talk to people who immigrated from such countries.

I know to listen to the platform of those that are running for the Presidency, to hear about all that free stuff (free Medicare for all, free college, money to people that don’t work, etc.). Yes, that sounds good, but who will pay for it all? You and me.

So, my friends, let us embrace our freedom and the goodness of this country and strive to live in peace and love with one another. Pray for our President and his Cabinet; for our country; and — most of all — be thankful!

Psalm 33:12 tell us, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

  Do not forget this principle.

Johanna Welch,

Bennington
