Lady Pacer Gracie White advances to Semistate

Switzerland County sophomore runner Gracie White had an outstanding day on Saturday at the Columbus North cross country Regional, and will be advancing as an individual to participate in this Saturday’s semistate race, which is being held in Brown County near Nashville, Indiana.

White earned her ticket to compete in the semistate by finishing 20th overall in a time of 20:46.7. The top 10 runners whose teams do not advance earn the right to run in the semistate, which is where White earned her way.

Also running in the girls regional was Alisha Detmer, who ran to a respectable 37th overall place finish in a time of 21:49.4 — just missing a chance to advance as an individual.

In the boys race, Pacer Nathan Furnish was the lone Switzerland County runner, and he finished 35th overall in a strong field of runners, crossing the tape in a time of 17:54.1.

Switzerland County athletic director Mark Boggs reports that anyone planning on going to the semistate this Saturday must pre-purchase a ticket in order to be admitted to the event.
