The Switzerland County Pacers lost to the South Ripley Raiders at home Saturday night by a score of 60-46.
The Pacers trailed at the end of the first quarter by a count of 17-10. Two buckets each were scored by Kyle Green and Mark Sharp; while Travis Webster added two at the line – but the Raiders had control of the game throughout the quarter.
In the second period the Pacers outscored the Raiders 13-11, but it was only enough to shave two points off of the Raider lead.
During the quarter Cliff Meyer connected on a bucket and one at the line and Travis Webster followed with a basket. It was a see-saw battle, however, as every time the Pacers would connect, the Raiders would respond.
Jordan Hinman connected for two at the line; T. J. Sefton added two buckets and one at the line; and Kyle Green was the last to connect on a basket before both teams headed to the locker room with Switzerland County trailing by just four points, 28-24.
The third quarter was a continuation of the hard fought, close contest that had fans from both sides cheering.
The Pacers were outscored in the third quarter 19-16, which extended the South Ripley lead to seven with just one period left.
Travis Webster and Jordan Hinman each added two points each at the line during the third stanza; and Travis Webster then buried a three-pointer that got the Pacers to within two points of the Raiders lead, 33-31.
As excited as the trey made the Switzerland County faithful, it would be the closest that the Pacers would get to the Raiders for the remainder of the game.
The Pacers didn’t give up, still trying to connect on shots as Kyle Green and T. J. Sefton would each earn another bucket for the Pacers during the period, but the defense couldn’t cool down a hot-shooting South Ripley squad.
Kyle Green added two more points at the line and finished the quarter for the Pacers with a three point bucket; but the Raiders finished the quarter with a 47-40 lead.
In the last quarter of the game the Raiders would once again out score the Pacers, this time by a 13-6 margin.
Kyle Green was first to score for the Pacers in the fourth period; and Jordan Hinman also connected for two points in the first few minutes of the quarter. As well as Switzerland County started the period, they couldn’t sustain the momentum, as the Raiders kept pounding the ball in for points while the Pacers would not score again until the last minute of the game when Aaron Moore connected on a basket.
The Raider steady play on both ends of the floor resulted in South Ripley picking up the win, 60-46.
Kyle Green was top scorer for the Pacers, finishing in double figures with 15 points and four rebounds. Travis Webster scored nine points; while T. J. Sefton had seven points.
