Sunday was a wonderful and busy day. First we went to church as usual, then to the Ogle Haus with Judy Lozier and Mike Johnson for the Veterans dinner, then to Madison for the King’s Daughters’ Hospital open house. Then back to church for evening service at Florence. Glenda Sullivan, Carolyn Lowe and Janet Brown also went to the KDH open gouse. We had nice visits with Lake Rayls, Danna Lee Adams, Cheryl Rice as they were greeting people. Also visited with Jean Adkins, her daughter Denise and two grandchildren, Jeanette Humphrey and daughter Penny, Cliff and Karen Hartley and family, Bobby Stivers, Randy Miller and others. It was wall to wall people and a beautiful very big building.

The first annual veterans appreciation dinner was wonderful. It was coordinated by Cash Saver Food Outlet in conjunction with the Vevay American Legion Post 185 and Vevay VFW Post 5396 and sponsored by Belterra, Ogle Haus, Friendship Bank, Vevay Newspapers and Cash Saver. Rita Sullivan took care of the reservations for over 180 veterans and guests. Darrell Hansel gave a good speech, also Dick Jewell, American Legion State Commander, Eric Rabe of Cash Saver and others (all short speeches). The food was great and the help was also great. It was run as smooth as anything I’ve ever seen. Thanks to all involved. I’d love to name all of you but afraid I’d miss someone. We got to meet Eric Rabe’s wife and children and welcome them to the community.
