The Tom Shelton Concert at the Florence Church of Christ was really good Thursday. Refreshments were served afterwards and everyone enjoyed the good fellowship.
The Florence church of Christ Ladies Christmas party was Saturday morning with the men making a wonderful breakfast for the ladies. Several guests attended and they had a nice program and gift exchange. Thanks to the men for a great morning.
Steve and Sam Jones-Ellard hosted a big Christmas party at their lovely home on Little Hominy Ridge Saturday night. Sam’s family from Indianapolis, Steve’s brother from St. Louis and the locals were families of the Walkers, Fabers, Parhams, Truitts, Gibsons, Talberts, Brogans, Fritters, Leaps, Schulers, Polings, Judys, Works, Crabtrees, Johnsons and probably some I missed had a wonderful evening. Lots of food and refreshments and good visiting. Steve and Sam brought me some delicious homemade treats of candy, cupcakes and cookies while I was working at the Fairway Inn Sunday since I couldn’t make it to the party. I know I missed a good time. Steve’s brother spent a few days with them.
Audrey Marsh visited with Denny Brown while Diana went to town after groceries last week. Denny wants to thank Audrey for being so kind and thoughtful. Sharon Wilson, Angie Handlon and Jack and Judy Bailey also visited Denny and Diana.
Darrell and Peggy Stoll from Washington, Indiana spent the weekend with Bud and Betty Hargrove. They enjoyed the American Legion party Saturday. Peggy and Betty went to the Ricky Skaggs show at Belterra Saturday night. Jerry Jewell from Rising Sun, Linda Jones, P.J., Jason, Jasmine and Annie Jones also visited. Davy and Patty Leap visited Friday night and they had a big euchre party.
Bud and Joann Baxter, Dick Scott, Ron and Jean Sandidge, Nora Gross, Evelyn Smith and Glenda Sullivan visited Faye Lewis last week.
Michelle, Kiersten and Kaden McClure visited Roy and bonnie Duckworth Friday and Saturday.
I went to the Posey Tappers Extension Homemakers Christmas dinner as the guest of Reva Johnson. It was at Concord Church and really nice. Bryceno’s catered the meal and it was very good.
I got a nice phone call from Betty Hunt thanking me for the article about her family meeting at the Veterans Day program and said she would see that all her brothers get a copy of it. With so many brothers in the service they deserve all the praise they get. Thank you again to all our service men.
We got the message about the little boy who has a short time to live and wants to break the record for getting the most Christmas cards. He is Dalton Dingus and his address is: H.C. 62, Box 1249, Salyersville, KY 41465, if you want to send a card. Several from the local churches will be sending them.
Get well wishes to my brother-in-law, Jerry Chase in Belmont, Ohio. He was taken to a hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia for a heart attack and gall bladder attack at the same time. He had a stent put in for his heart and is now waiting for the gall bladder repair.
John Kniola had a total knee replacement at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati last week and is recovering well at home. Get well prayers for John and for Casey Rininger at Dearborn County Hospital with double pneumonia. Jonas Keith got a cut on his arm that required 11 stitches. Sharon Ballard had outpatient surgery and is waiting for results. We hope they are okay. Also, keep Paul Ballard, Debbie Gregory, Sondra Furnish, Sherry Johnson, Gladys Bond, Vivian Chase, Don McClure, Dale Poling, Lowell Devers, Dutchie Scholl, Loretta Westrick, Libby Ray and her family, and many others in your thoughts and prayers.
Leona Adams’ brother John Stutzman lost his grandson in an auto accident last weekend in Leavenworth, Indiana. Sympathy to the family.
Carl Bovard, a very well known gentleman, passed away Saturday. He was a good friend to all and will be missed. Sympathy to Harriet and the family and friends.
