Edelweiss Teen Princess pageant opens 51st Swiss Wine Festival
The Edelweiss Teen Princess pageant will be the featured event tonight (Thursday) as the 51st Swiss Wine Festival gets underway in the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park.
The pageant caps the opening night at 8:15 p.m. on the Main Stage overlooking the Ohio River.
Here’s a look at the 12 contestants in this year’s pageant:
EDEN GRACE BYRD is the daughter of Jed Byrd and George and Wendy Toomer, and is a eighth grader at Switzerland County Middle School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by Treasure Cove Campground.
Eden is a member of the BPA and 4-H. She enjoys playing basketball, photography and enjoys working with her animals. She one day hopes to be an anesthesiologist.
ARYONNA MONEA CUNNINGHAM is the daughter Rob and Dietra Cunningham and is junior at Switzerland County High School. She is 16 years old and is being sponsored by REC Enterprises.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Pep Club and Student Council. She loves softball, volleying and cheering for Switzerland County. Following graduation she would like to become a nurse and then further her education to become a pediatrician.
ADDISON PRESLEY DECK is the daughter of Joshua and Erin Deck, and is a sophomore at Switzerland County High School. She is 15 years old and is being sponsored by Javier Steel.
Addi is a member of the NJHS, FFA and Olive Branch Baptist Church. She enjoys playing soccer, painting, cooking and hanging out with her friends and family. Addi’s career ambition is to become a labor and delivery nurse.
PAIGE ILISE EARLS is the daughter of Clinton and Traci Earls, and is a freshman at Switzerland County High School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by Ricketts Jewelry.
Paige is a member of the NJHS, FCA and Student Council. She attended the United States Naval Academy for their Summer Stem program. Paige enjoys playing soccer, running track, riding ATV’s and boating. Paige plans on attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland to study Marine Biology.
AVEN DANIELLE FULLER is the daughter of Kyle and Morgan Davis, and is an eighth grader at Switzerland County Middle School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by H & Co Hair Salon.
Aven has been acknowledged for her academic success and attitude in middle school. She loves playing softball, painting and helping her grandmother on the farm. Aven wants to attend Purdue University and pursue a degree is psychology.
JILLIAN NICOLE GREGORY is the daughter of Erin Gregory, and is a sophomore at Switzerland County High School. She is 15 years old and is being sponsored by Lohide Pumpkins.
Jillian is a member of the Spanish Club, FFA, Pep club, volleyball team and the cheer squad at Switzerland County. She enjoys playing club volleyball, reading, and weight lifting at the YMCA. Jillian hopes to play volleyball at the collegiate level while obtaining a nursing degree.
ELLIE GRACE KEITH is the daughter of Casey and Alisa Keith, and is a freshman at Switzerland County High School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by Halie at H & Co.
Ellie is a member of the NJHS, FCA, girls soccer and cross country teams, the Tempest Soccer Club and Olive Branch Baptist Church. She loves spending time with family and friends, playing her ukulele and crocheting. She hopes to one day obtain a degree in criminal justice or physical therapy.
BAYLEE DAWN ROMANS is the daughter of Dickie and Olesha Romans, and is a sophomore at Switzerland County High School. She is 15 years old and is being sponsored by Edelweiss Floral.
Baylee is a member of the NJHS, BPA, FFA and Pep Club. She enjoys soccer, cheerleading and running track at Switzerland County. Baylee’s career ambition is to be a child psychologist.
KAYLYNN BROOKE SCHAEFER is the daughter of Josh and Lainey Schaefer, and is a freshman at Switzerland County High School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by The German Corner.
Kaylynn is a member of the NJHS, FCA,FFA, soccer, basketball and track teams at Switzerland County. She enjoys baking, hiking, running and watching the Purdue Men’s basketball program. Kaylynn hopes to attend Purdue University to become a pharmacist.
KLAYRE CRYSTAL SMITH is the daughter of Levi and Laci Smith and is a junior at Switzerland County High School. She is 16 years old and is being sponsored by JCS Designs.
Klayre is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Pep Club, BPA and an 8 year member of 4-H. Klayre enjoys volleyball, camping and going on vacation. She hopes to one day become a Physician Assistant in Pediatrics.
EMMA SOPHIA SOUTH is the daughter of Josh and Thera South, and is a freshman at Switzerland County High School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by Super ATV.
Emma is a member of the NJHS, FCA and soccer team at Switzerland County. She enjoys playing soccer, basketball, swimming, crafting, painting and her two Australian Shepherds: ‘Max’ and ‘Ruby’. She hopes to one day become a pediatric nurse.
HANNAH ELIZABETH WEEDMAN is the daughter of Lisa Weedman, and is a freshman at Carroll County High School. She is 14 years old and is being sponsored by the Community Art Center of Switzerland County.
Hannah won the Kentucky State Art Contest and graduated from the Christian Academy of Carrollton with Highest Honors. She enjoys archery and doing pottery with her grandmother. She also volunteers with children at the Art Center on First Friday’s. Her goal is to one day be a therapist.
