I think some celebrations are good, some are bad, and some are ugly. Obviously, any celebration that ends in violence is ugly, but those celebrations are not my issue today. Instead, I want to first address a growing form of celebration that is shortsighted at best.

A recent Sports Illustrated article about Paralympics rower Blake Haxton made me stop and think. It made me realize that I, like many others, was looking at the method and not the message.

Before I write what I intend to write for this week's column, I have to make one more comment about the National Football League and some of its players. I no longer have any respect for the NFL, and many of its players are trying to divide the country - not bring unity.
