Bri Stow’s 23 points leads Lady Pacers to win over Caroll County
Trailing by 10 points at halftime, the Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity basketball team had a big second half to erase that deficit and post a 52-45 win over Carroll County.
It was a close game from the outset, as Carroll County held an 11-10 advantage after the first eight minutes of play.
In the first, Switzerland County showed offensive balance, as five different players accounted for two points.
Courtney Higgins, Macy Collier, Maddie Levell, and Bri Stow all had baskets in the first, while Halle Archer converted two freethrows.
Switzerland County stumbled in the second quarter, being outscored by a 17-8 count to fall behind 28-18 score at the half.
Stow had a basket and a three-pointer to account for five points in the second; while Collier added another bucket and Higgins added a freethrow.
Down by 10 coming out of the halftime break, the third period was critical for Switzerland County —and Coach Brooke Todd’s squad responded.
The Lady Pacers scored 19 points in the third while holding the Lady Panthers to just nine — erasing the deficit and tying the game at 37-37 with one quarter to play.
In the third, Stow was on fire, scoring 10 points by herself on two field goals and a pair of three-pointers.
Collier had two more baskets in the third; while Molly Wrightsman drilled a three-pointer and Archer contributed two freethrows.
The offensive run continued in the fourth stanza; as Switzerland County outscored Carroll County 15-8 to seal the win.
The Lady Pacers spent much of the final period at the line, as Switzerland County went to the line 11 times in the fourth, converting seven of those attempts.
Stow wrapped up an impressive game with six more points in the fourth — including a perfect 4-for-4 from the line.
Higgins had two field goals and also made a freethrow for five points; Wrightsman made two freethrows; and Archer had a basket.
At the final buzzer, the Lady Pacers had battled back from a 10-point deficit to earn a seven point win, 52-45.
Stow led all scorers with 23 points in the contest, including three three-pointers and she was 4-for-4 at the line to go along with five other field goals.
Collier finished with eight points and pulled down seven rebounds; Higgins also had eight points and added five assists; and Archer had six points and a team-high nine boards.
Wrightsman had five points and four rebounds; and Levell had two points while grabbing five rebounds.
Carroll County was led by Katie Hensley, who had 17 points.
Switzerland County now holds an overall record of 8-4; and will travel to Waldron for a Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, December 27th.
Switzerland County will play Tri-West in the first round of the tourney; while Waldron will play Batesville in the other first round game.

In the junior varsity game, Switzerland County won by a score of 43-20.
Kaitlynn Stucker finished with 13 points to lead the Lady Pacers; while Carlee Boggs and Isabella Breeck each added nine points.
Ashlyn Covington had five points; Lauren Smith had four points; and Addie Kelso contributed three points.
