The Ohio River Valley Conference has announced it’s “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for spring sports for the week of April 7th-12th, and two Switzerland County athletes have earned top honors.
– In baseball, Pacer Zach Osowski has been named as the “Player of the Week”.
He earned the honor by pitching seven innings and striking out five in earning a shutout win; and at the plate he was 3-for-6 with a grand slam home run and six RBI versus Milan.
Conference players honored as “Top Performers” included: Chris Walker and Zach Turner of Milan; Cody Stephens, Henry Green, and Terrell Boyd of Southwestern; Cory Fogle and Josh Uhlmansiek of Rising Sun; and Zack Simon and Brandon Gehl of Jac-Cen-Del.
– In boys track, Brandon Otter was honored as the “Top Performer” by establishing conference bests in the long jump at 19’7″; and the high jump at 6’5″.
Teammate Nathan Hickman was honored as a “Top Performer” by posting a conference-best time of :42.8 in the 300-meter low hurdles.
Conference bests for the week in boys track were earned by: Terrance Jones of Rising Sun in the discus; Myles Hornsby of Rising Sun in the high hurdles; Tyler Banschbach of Rising Sun in the 100-meter dash; Isaac Crouch of Rising Sun in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash; Brenden Siekman of Rising Sun in the 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run; and Erik Demaree of South Ripley in the 3,200-meter run.
– In girls track, Lady Pacers Christina Ahaus and Andrea Brogan were honored as “Top Performers”.
Christina Ahaus was honored for posting a conference-best distance of 33’10” in the shot put.
Andrea Brogan was honored for her conference-best time of :18.53 in the high hurdles.
Conference bests for the week in girls track were earned by: Aryn Peters of Rising Sun in the high jump; Erica Wickstrom of South Ripley in the low hurdles; Melanie Berry of South Ripley in the 800-meter run; and Caitlyn Bowman of Rising Sun in the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.
Val Wagner of Jac-Cen-Del was honored as the “Player of the Week” in girls track for posting conference-bests in the long jump, and the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter dashes.
– In golf, Pacer Tanner Ross was honored as a “Top Performer” for firing a nine-hole score of 43 during a recent match at Vineyard.
Other golfers honored as “Top Performers” included: Tyler Kirk of Milan; Mike Lovern and Alex Dennis of Rising Sun; Vinny Bottomley and Nico Mingione of Madison Shawe; Jared Rogers of South Ripley; Mathew Barringer and Wes Trapp of Southwestern; and Logan Simon of Jac-Cen-Del.
Aaron Hopkins of Rising Sun and Bryan Peters of Milan shared “Player of the Week” honors.
– No members of the Switzerland County Lady Pacer softball team were honored during the week.
“Top Performers” included; Becca Wagner, Val Wagner, and Regina Ricke of Jac-Cen-Del; Courtney Weaver and Kelci Lange of Rising Sun; Teri Hawkins and Kady Alloway of Milan; and Jessica Conover of Southwestern.
Courtney Crabtree of Milan and Devin Brierly of Southwestern shared “Player of the Week” honors.
