The Switzerland County Middle School wrestling team has had a busy week.
– On Tuesday, February 8th, the wrestling team had its first-ever home match against Southwestern.
A large crowd packed the gym to witness the Switzerland County wrestlers take victory with a team score of 52-22 and individually with nine wins, four losses. Eight out of nine wins were pins and one by points, three out of four losses were pins and one by points.
– On Thursday, February 10th, the team took on Milan at home, finishing with a 24-92 loss.
Milan gained 45 forfeited points due to Switzerland County not filling nine of the available weight classes.
Individual scores were four wins, eight losses and nine forfeits.
After the team matches were concluded, a round of exhibition matches were held to allow all 32 members of Milan’s team to wrestle, finishing with five wins and five losses.
At the end of the night, the Pacers had nine wins, 13 losses and nine forfeits.
– On Saturday, February 12th, the wrestlers traveled to Brookville, Indiana to compete in a five-team tournament. The participating teams were: Sunman Dearborn, Franklin County, South Dearborn, Milan, Connersville and Switzerland County.
This was a three round individual tournament:
Round One ended with five wins and eight losses for Switzerland County.
Round Two scored 10 wins and three losses for Switzerland County.
Round Three totaled eight wins and six losses for the Pacers.
Overall the day brought a 23 win and 17 loss victory.
– Tuesday, February 22nd, at 6 p.m. will be the team’s next match at Madison Consolidated Middle School against Madison and Jennings County. Thursday, February 24th, at 6 p.m. will be our last home match against Greensburg Middle School.
On Saturday, March 5th at 8 a.m., the team will compete in an eight-team tournament at Greensburg Middle School.
