Wreck here claims young life


A car accident on Markland Pike near Bennett Road on Thursday, July 30th, resulted in the death of a Switzerland County girl and the treatment of three other young people who were also in the vehicle.

Switzerland County Sheriff Nathan Hughes said that the accident occurred at approximately 11:57 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to the scene after learning of a single vehicle accident. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree.

The four individuals in the vehicle at the time of the accident were all juveniles.

One of the occupants, Brooklyn Lustig, 13, of Switzerland County, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Switzerland County Coroner’s Office.

Another occupant was trapped inside the vehicle, and was extricated by members of the Jeff-Craig Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from the East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department.

That individual and another who was in the vehicle were airlifted to UC Hospital by Air Methods and by University of Cincinnati Air Care. The fourth occupant was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
