Now approximately halfway through a three-year construction schedule, work on State Road 129 between Vevay and Pleasant is still on target to be finished in the fall of 2007.

Marvin Jenkins, public information officer for the Indiana Department of Transportation, said that workers are on schedule as they work their way up the road to the north.

“Really, all we’re prepared to say is that the project is running smoothly and on schedule,” Marvin Jenkins said. “The weather could easily start becoming a factor; but we believe that traffic should be permitted back on the road by December 1st.”

Marvin Jenkins said that workers should be up to the Moorefield area by next week. The original work began last spring by putting in a new entrance to the highway just west of the original entrance; and a new bridge has now been placed to replace the bridge in the curve near Long Run.

Work will cease on the project around December 1st; and the road will then be open to through traffic all during the winter months; closing again for construction in the spring of 2007.

If all continues on schedule, the work should be completed that fall.
