Winter weather causes school calendar changes

272

The county has experienced a relatively mild winter; but the few snowy days that were experienced have led to some changes in the calendar for students in Switzerland County schools.

Superintendent Mike Jones reports that in order to make up missed days, schools will now be in session on Good Friday, May 25th. This originally was supposed to be a day out of school.

The superintendent said that the corporation has missed five days of school this year due to weather. One of those days was made up by school being in session on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; and a second will be made up by going on Good Friday.

That leaves three days to be made up; and that will happen on Thursday and Friday, May 26th-27th; and the final one will be made up on Tuesday, May 31st (May 30th is Memorial Day).

Anyone having any questions should contact the school that their child attends.

Superintendent Jones has also announced that he will be hosting a Superintendent’s Neighborhood Meeting on Wednesday, March 16h.

The meeting will be held at the East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department, and will begin at 6 p.m. Valerie Smith, teacher at Switzerland County High School, will be speaking that evening about the Bio-Med class that is being offered at the high school.
