Winter arrives, schools cancelled twice

Winter weather officially arrived this week as freezing temperatures and a dusting of snow forced cancellation of schools throughout Southeastern Indiana on Monday. January 11.

Rising Sun students will go to school on Monday, January 18 (the first built in make up day).

Tuesday morning snow forecast closed schools for a second day with temperatures in the single digits expected to arrive Wednesday morning. The Ohio County Public Library Board passed a new Inclement Weather Policy at their monthly meeting.

If the Ohio County local public school system chooses to close for the day due to inclement weather, the Ohio County Public Library will also be closed. If there is a delay in opening for the local public school system, the library will also observe a 2 hour delay, opening at 10 am.

Patrons will not accrue any fines for days the library is closed due to inclement weather. If you have any questions about this new policy please call 812-438-2257 and follow us on facebook for other updates.
