Whitley Schirmer earns basketball honors


Switzerland County senior Whitley Schirmer has earned honors for her performance during this year’s basketball season.

Schirmer was honored with inclusion on the All Conference team of the Ohio River Valley Conference. She was the only Lady Pacer to earn inclusion on the 15-member squad.

She finished second in the conference in scoring with an average of 14.9 points per game; connected on 24 three-pointers; handed out 45 assists; and shot 70-percent from the freethrow line.

Joining her on the All Conference team were: Morgan Peetz, Julia Rea, Elexah Roepke, Kiley Sparks, and Toria Tucker from conference champion South Ripley; Kayla Bowling, Mariah Day, Rosie Newhart, and Lilly Simon from Jac-Cen-Del; Lucy Carrigan from Rising Sun; Megg Hensler and Claire Higgins from Shawe Memorial; Abby Ralston from Southwestern; and Maddy Roell from Milan.


In addition to earning the conference accolades; Schirmer was also honored with inclusion on the All Sectional team for Sectional #45 at Austin.

Joining her on that elite squad were: Toria Tucker, Kiley Sparks, Morgan Peetz, and Elexah Roepke from Sectional champion South Ripley; Akaya Walker, Kami Owens, and Mackenzie Norton from runner up Austin; Alexa Burton of Milan; Jesse Closser and Chelsea Hitchcock of North Decatur; and Abby Ralston of Southwestern.
