White, Rogers, Hon close XC year at Semistate meet

  An outstanding season for the Switzerland County High School boys and girls cross country teams came to an end on Saturday afternoon as Pacer individual runners competed in the Brown County Semistate.

  In the girls race, senior Gracie White finished 62nd overall with a time of 20:26.3.

  Sophomore Claire Rogers ran a time of 20:51.3 to finish in 83rd place.

  Columbus North won the Semistate with a team score of 58; followed by Bloomington South with a score of 110; Floyd Central with 140; Northview was fourth with 143; and Princeton Community was fifth with 168.

  Julie Kiesler of Columbus North was the individual winner in a time of 17:17.3; with teammate Lily Baker finishing second overall with a time of 17:53.4. Heidi Meade of Princeton Community was third in 18:02.7; Kaitlyn Stewart of Floyd Central was fourth in 18:03.8; and Lily Myers of Bloomington South was fifth in 18:22.5.

  Locally, Calli Alderman of Shawe Memorial finished 17th overall with a time of 19:11.0.

  In the boys race, Pacer sophomore Cooper Hon ran to a 95th place overall finish in a very difficult field of runners. He posted a time of 17:37.6.

  Winning the race was Aiden Lord of New Albany in a time of 15:21.1; with Ryan Rheam of Bloomington South finishing second with a time of 15:27.2

  Will Russell of Columbus North was third in a time of 15:36.9; and Columbus North’s Clayton Guthrie was fourth in 15:41.3. Jasper’s Jaryn Weinel finished fifth by an eyelash, posting a time of 15:41.6.

  The top 13 finishers in the semistate ran sub-16 minute times.

  Columbus North won the boys semistate, too, with a team score of 55; followed by Floyd Central with 117; Bloomington South with 127; Bloomington North with 131; and Jasper with 208.
