A year of growth and experience for the Switzerland County volleyball program came to a close on Saturday in the semifinals of the Class 2A Sectional held at Hauser High School.
Coach Erin Gregory’s Lady Pacers fell to host Hauser by scores of 9-25, 3-25, 12-25.
Jillian Gregory had four kills and two digs in the match; while Molly Wrightsman and Macy Cook each had a kill.
Bri Stow and Macy Collier each had serving aces; Gregory and Collier each had a block on defense; and Carly Bennett finished with five assists.
The loss in the Sectional means that the Switzerland County squad finishes with an overall record of 9-21; and they were 1-5 in conference play.
Hauser went on to defeat South Ripley in straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-20, 25-14 to win the Sectional and advance to the Regional.
The Lady Jets (24-10) will play Linton-Stockton (25-5) in the Mitchel Regional this Saturday, October 22nd, at 11 a.m. The Regional’s second game will pit Browntown Central (17-15) against North Posey (26-7) at 12:30 p.m. The two afternoon winners will play for the Regional title on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.
