Volleyball teams are off to a great start

The Switzerland County Lady Pacer volleyball teams are off and running for their new season.

The Lady Pacers opened their season on Wednesday, August 17th at home against Oldenburg in an exciting match. The varsity Lady Pacers pulled out the victory, winning three sets to two over the Twisters. Scores were 25-22, 25-22, 9-25, 21-25, 15-9.

Stats for the players included:

– Kinley Morton: 92-percent serving, 9 kills, 2 digs

– Hope Tankersley: 79-percent serving, 1 ace, 6 Kills, 4 digs

– Kalli Morton: 92-percent Serving, 2 aces, 3 kills

– Mary Streett: 88-percent serving, 1 ace, 2 kills

– Delanie Swanson: 100-percent serving, 1 ace, 1 dig

– Emerson Schroer: 94-percent serving, 1 ace, 1 kill, 2 digs

– Ariana Bright: 94-percent Serving, 2 aces, 2 digs

Switzerland County played its second match of the season the following night, Thursday, August 18th, at home against the Rising Sun Lady Shiners. The varsity lost 1-3 with scores of: 12-25, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25.

“Despite the loss for our time, it was a very competitive game at the end and I commend the girls on never losing their fight in the game and improving as the set went on,” head coach Kodi Thayer said. “After losing the first two sets of the night, the ladies rallied together and won set three and almost forced a fifth set. The girls showed a lot of fight and passion during the last two sets of the game and this is what we are working on building on.”
