The Rising Sun Shiners opened the boys cross country season with a win at Moores Hill on Wednesday, Aug. 16th.
The Shiners scored 25 with LAwrenceburg finishing with 30. Host South Dearborn did not have the required five runners for a team score.
Rising Sun’s Dalton Vinup completed the 3.1 mile sectional course in 20:02. Freshman Grant Taylor was third in 21:19.

South Dearborn had a complete team in the girls’ meet and won with 20 points. LAwrenceburg scored 39. Rising Sun didn’t have a team score.
Hannah Morgan won the meet for Coach Merle Hines’ Lady Tigers in 23:22.
Maddy Bovard was top finisher for Rising Sun in sixth place at 26:46. Mackenzie Ellegood was 10th in 28:41. Abby Wallace was the remaining Shiner with a time of 34:28.9.

Rising Sun’s lone home meet of the season was rained out on Saturday. They were scheduled to run at Switzerland County Wednesday before headed to the Rushville Invitational on Saturday and a four way meet with LAwrenceburg, South Ripley and Milan on Tuesday at Milan.
