‘VFW Day’ here tomorrow features free community meal

The National ‘Veterans of Foreign Wars Day’ is observed annually on September 29th, honoring the men and women devoted to this valuable organization and those members who have served our nation.

Tomorrow (Friday, September 29th), the Oscar L. Rosenberger VFW Post #5396 will be celebrating the 118th Birthday of the VFW at 502 Vineyard Street in Vevay. The celebration includes a free spaghetti dinner beginning at noon, and serving will continue until the food is gone. This event is free of charge, open to the public and all veterans and non-veterans are welcome.

County service officers will be available to provide information on veteran’s assistance, support, and to answer any questions veterans or veteran family members may have.

In addition to providing assistance to local veterans, the members and auxiliary of the Oscar L. Rosenberger VFW Post #5396 are active supporters in the Switzerland County community in promoting civic responsibility, patriotism, and supporting youth and local programs.

The VFW Post #5396 has recently participated in Hurricane Relief Fund collection as well as working with the American Legion Post #185 in providing Funeral Honor Guards. The VFW Post #5396 has a history with a deep commitment to Switzerland county youth in processing national scholarships, supporting local 4H projects, and volunteering for the Switzerland County High School football team.
