Vevay police investigating break ins

A rash of break ins involving three local businesses over the past few weeks has the officers of the Vevay Police Department seeking information from the community.

On Tuesday, October 6th, Mo’s Steakhouse on Highway 56 on the west side of Vevay was broken into; and the River House Bar and Grill on Ferry Street was also broken into the same day.

On Tuesday, October 13th, Shell’s Ice Cream and Grill on East Main Street was broken into.

Mo’s was also broken into in June of this year.

Vevay Police Chief Brian Morton said that in all three cases, cash was taken, but the amounts of cash taken at each was not disclosed.

“All of the break ins were at night, after closing,” Chief Morton said. “We are investigating all three, and are being assisted by the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department.”

Brian Morton said that anyone who may have seen anything suspicious on the evenings in question should contact the Vevay Police Department at 427-3737. All callers may remain anonymous.

“I can’t stress enough that if people see something, they need to call immediately,” Chief Morton said. “Anytime anybody sees suspicious activity, they should call us, 24-7. The more information they can provide, the better. Even if they think it’s something minor, it needs to be looked at right then.”

All of the break ins are still under investigation.
