Two deaths, three arrests in county investiga tion

During the early morning hours of Saturday, May 20th, the Switzerland County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call of two unresponsive males who were possibly not breathing on East State Road 56, near Vevay.

A Deputy and an Officer of the Vevay Police Department responded to the scene, as well as an ambulance from Switzerland County Emergency Response.

Upon arrival, responders discovered two male subjects in the residence who were unresponsive, and rescuers began to administer CPR. Lifesaving efforts continued after the ambulance arrived on the scene, but the attempts were unsuccessful and the Switzerland County Coroner was notified.

The deceased were identified as: Larry C. Tingle, age 53 and Jerry A. Lewis, age 22, both of Vevay.

During the course of the investigation, information was obtained that led to the execution of a search warrant on a residence on East State Road 56, Vevay. This resulted in the arrest of three individuals residing at that location on multiple charges.

– Buster L. Harlow, 39 of Vevay was arrested and charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor; and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony.

He is currently being held on a $1,000 bond.

– George Harlow Jr., 60 of Vevay, was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony; and Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Level 6 Felony.

He is currently being held on a $5,000.00 bond.

– Shane Hopkins, 29 of Vevay is being held on a $10,000.00 bond after being charged with Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of a Narcotic Drug, both charges are Level 6 Felonies. He was also charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor.

All Subjects are being detained at the Switzerland County Jail.

Also, assisting in the investigation were Troopers of the Indiana State Police.

All suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
