The Switzerland County Tri Kappa chapter is celebrating “Tri Kappa Week” now through Saturday, February 27th.
The Vevay Gamma Chi chapter of Tri Kappa has been active since 1927, and today it continues to work towards the same goals it set 89 years ago. Tri Kappa strives to support education, charity and culture in the Switzerland County community and across the entire state of Indiana.
Vevay Tri Kappa offers multiple scholarships to local students, and it also sponsors students who are traveling to conferences and competitions. Tri Kappa supports younger students by funding family events at local elementary schools.
The Gamma Chi chapter also contributes to the local library’s summer reading program. Tri Kappa is always seeking opportunities to help students. It raises money through volunteerism and by hosting the cake walk at the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Vevay.
The Tri Kappa organization also supports Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis with monetary donations, as well as by donating toys, gift cards, and even handmade fleece blankets.
Locally, the chapter has donated to the Angel Tree program; Choices for Women; and the Switzerland County Animal Shelter.
The Switzerland County club has also donated time as well as funds. Members spent a Saturday cleaning the Vevay Hill roadside and watering all of the downtown flower pots for a summer.
Congratulations to Tri Kappa, and thanks for all you do for the Switzerland County community.
