Traveling voting centers are busy as 2016 Election Day nears

The General Election both here in Switzerland County, in the State of Indiana, and in the nation is now less than one week away; and as the Traveling Voting Centers are opening around the county, it looks like there’s going to be a huge turnout of voters.

Switzerland County Clerk of Courts Gayle Sullivan said that as of Tuesday morning there had been 1,408 voters cast their ballots at one of the traveling voting centers or at the voting center located in the courthouse, that’s just under 19-percent of registered voters.

Add to that absentee ballots, which aren’t counted until Election Day, and the number goes higher. Sullivan said that 273 absentee ballots were mailed out, and as of Tuesday, 192 of them had been returned.

Of course there’s still time to cast your ballot, either at the remaining voting centers, or at the Switzerland County TEC Center on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th. Sullivan said that voters should remember to take a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to the polling center in order to be certified to vote.

Here’s a look at the remaining dates, times, and locations of the voting centers:

• Today (Thursday, November 3rd), voters can go to the Florence Firehouse and vote from 8 a.m. until noon. Voters may also vote at the Florence Firehouse tomorrow (Friday, November 4th), from 2-6 p.m.

• This Saturday, November 5th, voters can go to the Switzerland County TEC Center in Vevay and vote from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Voters may also vote at the TEC Center this Monday, November 7th, from 8 a.m. until noon.

• On Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th, voters can to the Switzerland County TEC Center in Vevay and vote from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
