Thumbelina ballet at the Hoosier Theater

The Hoosier Theater is proud to welcome the Cincinnati Kinderballet as it tells the story of Thumbelina’s journey in its live ballet production of “Thumbelina”.

The performance will be held this Saturday, May 4th, at 11 a.m.

The ballet, which was adapted from the fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson, shows the audience the story of a girl who was no larger than a person’s thumb.

“It’s a wonderful tale,” said Hoosier Theater President Antoinette Kniola. “Between all the glitter and sparkly fabric, it’s quite a sight.”

It begins with a sorceress that gives Thumbelina’s parents a magical seed. They plant the seed and Thumbelina sprouts from the plant.

Thumbelina lives with her parents until she is kidnapped by the Frog King, who wants her to marry his son.

“She escapes from them with the help of a white butterfly,” said Antoinette Kniola.

However, Thumbelina does not make it all the way home at first. One of the last characters she meets is the Garden Prince.

The show is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $5 each and are available at Switzerland County Tourism on Main Street in Vevay. Debit or credit cards sales available at the Tourism office only.
