The Switzerland County Pacers softball team continued its strangle hold on the Ohio River Valley Conference over the past week, picking up three more ORVC victories to stay perfect in league play.
But it took some innings to accomplish that.
The Lady Pacers played an extra inning game at South Ripley last Wednesday, finally earning a win, 11-4.
The game was tied up 4-4 after seven innings of the game, but in the eighth inning the Lady Pacer bats came alive, scoring seven points to secure the victory. The team finished with 13 hits, including one double; and nine players scored runs. There were six stolen bases, and the team finished with a total of 10 RBI in the eight innings.
Ashley Chase was 5-for-5 in the game, and added five stolen bases, two runs scored, and four RBI. Natalie Graham and Ashley Bright each had two hits; while Courtney Cole and Jennifer South each had a single. Amber Smith had two RBI and a hit; and Tanya Sefton had a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base.
Ashley Bright and Rachel Rodgers also finished with an RBI; and also scoring a run for the team were Morgan Ross, Courtney Cole, Rachel Rodgers, Megan McCarty, Ashley Bright, Sara Craig and Amber Smith.
Kodi Driver pitched the eight innings in the game, improving her record to 9-2 overall. She had three strikeouts, allowed just two earned runs and only one walk.
“We were sluggish early and it almost cost us a conference game. South Ripley played well but had problems in the eighth inning when our bats came around,” coach Steve Konkle said. “Ashley Chase had a great day, I’m proud of our girls for getting it together in the extra inning.”

The jayvee girls also won at South Ripley by a score of 10-6; improving the team record to 5-4 on the season.
Emilee Waldron had three hits, scored one run and four RBI; while Morgan Ross had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Melissa Raisor had a run, a hit and an RBI; and Jenna Daugherty finished with an RBI and a hit. Rachel Tressler and Kelsi South each had hit and a run; while Ashley Johnson and Kayla Konkle finished with a run each. Megan McCarty had one run, one hit and two stolen bases.
Kayla Konkle was pitcher during the game and had three strikeouts.

The Lady Pacers traveled to Rising Sun on Friday, May 5th bringing home a 12-1 victory in just five innings.
Ashley Chase had three hits, three RBI, two runs and two stolen bases; and Natalie Daugherty had two hits, two RBI, one run and a stolen base. Kodi Driver had a hit, an RBI and a run; and Courtney Cole had two hits.
Ashley Bright had a hit and two runs scored; Jennifer South had a hit, an RBI and scored three runs. Rachel Rodgers had a hit and two runs; Tanya Sefton scored a run; and Megan McCarty finished with stolen base.
Kodi Driver was pitcher for the five innings played and had two strikeouts and no walks.

The junior varsity team also played at Rising Sun losing in a close game 6-5.
Scoring for the team were Megan McCarty and Amber Smith, each with two runs; and Melissa Raisor had one. Amber Smith, Rachel Tressler, Kelsi South and Jessica South each had an RBI. Melissa Raisor, Megan McCarty and Emilee Waldron all had a stolen base each.
Ashley Johnson pitched three innings and Kayla Konkle pitched two. Amber Smith was nominated as player of the game for her two hits, two runs and an RBI. She also took a diving catch on a foul pop up.

The Lady Pacer varsity won for the second time on the season against the Milan Indians, this time by a score 8-3 this past Monday.
Kodi Driver was pitcher during the seven inning game, and struck out six batters, while only walking two. She allowed only two earned runs while facing 33 batters.
Natalie Daugherty, Rachel Rodgers, Tanya Sefton and Natalie Graham each had two hits each; while Ashley Chase, Kodi Driver and Jennifer South each had a hit.
Natalie Graham had three RBI, Ashley Chase had two and Natalie Daugherty had an RBI.
Tanya Sefton, Natalie Daugherty and Ashley Chase had two runs and Rachel Rodgers and Jennifer South each had a run.
Ashley Chase had two stolen bases while Rachel Rodgers, Megan McCarty and Tanya Sefton each had one stolen base.
Coach Konkle nominated Natalie Graham as player of the game, as she had three RBI, a double and had several impressive defensive plays.

The jayvee team lost to the Lady Indians by a score of 6-3. Scoring for the team was Kelsi South, Jenna Daugherty and Emilee Waldron. Melissa Raisor, Megan McCarty, Amber Smith, Kelsi South, Jenna Daugherty, Emilee Waldron and Kim Fox each had a hit; and Amber Smith added a stolen base to her statistics.
Melissa Raisor was nominated as player of the game going 1-for-2 and she had two RBI.
Kayla Konkle pitched during the game and had three strikeouts.
The Switzerland County Lady Pacers will be in action again tomorrow (Friday), at home against South Decatur beginning at 4:30 p.m.
