The Switzerland County High Schools Hall of Fame will grow by three members later this fall.
Switzerland County athletic director Mark Boggs has announced that Nathan Christman, Suzanne (Kinman) Cyr, and Jeff Weales have been selected by the committee for induction. The ceremony will take place at the annual Pacer Varsity Club dinner, which will be held on Thursday evening, November 1st, at Belterra Casino and Resort.
• Nathan Christman is a 1999 graduate of Switzerland County High School.
Nathan excelled in basketball and golf while in high school. In basketball, he was a three year starter, and is currently the third leading scorer in school history with 1,155 points. He is the all-time leader in three-point shots made with 170 — including 65 during his senior season. He is also fourth all-time in field goals made with 410. He was an integral part of Switzerland County High Schools back-to-back sectional championship teams in 1997-1998 and 1998-1999.
He was a three year all-conference selection in basketball, as well as, a three year all-conference performer in golf. This includes the Most Valuable Golfer his senior year. After graduation, Nathan attended Manchester College before transferring to Purdue University.
• Suzanne (Kinman) Cyr is a 1997 graduate of Switzerland County High School.
Suzi excelled in four sports during her high school career. In basketball, Suzi was a three-year all-conference performer. She also was the Most Valuable Player of the Lawrenceburg Sectional her senior year. She was a big contributor to the Pacers winning back-to-back Sectional Championships in 1996 and 1997. In softball and volleyball, she earned all-conference honors five times — three times in softball and twice in volleyball.
In Track and Field, Suzi won the Sectional and Regional in discus her senior year while also advancing to the state meet. She currently holds the discus record at Switzerland County High School with a distance of 118 feet. After graduation, Suzi attended and graduated from Purdue University in 2001. She is currently employed by Purdue University where she works in the business department.
• A 1986 graduate of Switzerland County High School, Jeff Weales was a three-sport athlete.
In basketball, Jeff scored 956 points throughout his high school career and dished out 358 assists. He currently ranks third in all-time assists, seventh in field goals, second in free throws and sixth all-time in scoring. This was accomplished before the three-point line was adopted. He also was voted all-conference for two years.
In baseball, Jeff was an all-conference performer three years. This included the Most Valuable Player of the Ohio River Valley Conference his sophomore year. In golf, Jeff was a four year all-conference performer. This included the ORVC number one golfer his senior year.
After graduation, Jeff attended the University of Evansville and was a member of the golf team. He continued his love of golf by working to become a PGA professional and continues to work in the golf industry where he owns and runs his own golf course in Madison, Indiana.
