The Switzerland County Middle School boys and girls track teams swept the Vevay Media Group Invitational held on Friday, April 26th.

Girls win big 

  In the team standings, the Lady Pacers finished with 74 points to easily outdistance second place Rising Sun, which had 57 points. Jac-Cen-Del was third with 31 points; while Southwestern finished with 22 points.

  Earning blue ribbons for Switzerland County was Macy Collier in the high jump with a height of 4’4”; Carly Bennett in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of :17.76; Gracie White in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 6:22.13; and Bri Stow in the 800-meter run in a time of 3:02.63.

  Also earning wins was the 400-meter relay team of Megan Wetzel, Maddie Levell, Terra Oeffinger and Bennett in a tiem of :58.69; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Wetzel, Courtney Higgins, Miranda Earls, and White in a time of 5:10.87.

  Second places were earned by Stow in the high jump; Wetzel in the 100-meter dash; Aliyah Tafoya in the long jump; White in the 400-meter dash; and Olivia Hutchinson in the discus.

  Earning third place points were: Carly Boggs in the 1,600-meter run; Bennett in the long jump; Brooklyn Flanders in the 200-meter dash; and Lauren Jackson in the discus.

  Courtney Higgins was 4th in the 400-meter dash; Levell was fourth in the 200-meter dash; Amber Detmer was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and sixth in the 800-meter run; Oeffinger was fifth in the 100-meter dash; and Bennett was fifth in the shot put.

Boys grab victory

  In the boys meet, the Pacers earned a narrow victory with 66 points to outdistance Rising Sun, which was second with 63 points. Jac-Cen-Del was third with 48 points; and Southwestern had seven points.

  The lone first place finish individually for the Pacers came when Aiden Furnish won the 400-meter dash in a time of :59.55. The 1,600-meter relay team also earned a victory in a time of 4:41.26.

  Second places were earned by Josiah Breeck in the discus and the shot put; Matt Davis in the long jump; Furnish in the 100-meter dash; Trace Johnson in the 400-meter dash; and Jalen Brookbank in the 800-meter run.

  Third place points were earned by Furnish in the 100-meter hurdles; Breeck in the 200-meter dash; and Landon Richards in the shot put; while fourth places were earned by Levi Curlin in the long jump and the 200-meter dash; Aiden Griffith in the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump; James Northcutt in the 100-meter dash; Dylan Sullivan in the 1,600-meter run; and Landon Duckworth in the 800-meter run. Levi Goldsberry was fifth in the discus.
