Teens

To the Editor:

In response to the allegations that Mike Cooney made in his column in the January 12th issue of the Vevay Newspaper:

The YMCA does make its fitness equipment available to teenagers. Come and check us out.

We have unrestricted use for ages 13-15 teens in the fitness center. The hour is 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday for unrestricted use with a parent or guardian present, provided they are supervising the child’s program.

We are enrolled in the Future Force program which is designed to teach children of that age all of the parts of a good fitness program. After successfully passing the class they are allowed unrestricted use.

We ask no more of our teens than we do of our adult members and that is to respect other members and the equipment. I hope this clears up any misconceptions about teen programs available in our county.
