Switzerland County’s seventh annual “Relay for Life” will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 16th-17th, at the track at Switzerland County High School. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday night, and will run through noon on Saturday.
The high school site will be used again this year because facilities provide ample parking, the use of the cafeteria for the Survivors Dinner, campsite spaces for teams, and the track for the walking relay event. Teams will also have access to restroom facilities; and the gymnasium will be used in case or rain.
Teams for this year’s “Relay for Life” are already working on raising funds, but more teams are welcome and are encouraged to sign up now and participate. Money raised in previous years is now being used by researchers in the effort to conquer cancer.
All persons who have had a family member touched by cancer are urged to participate and help take up the fight against cancer so future generations will not have to worry about this disease.
Your help and the work of the entire community is needed to help wipe out cancer; and participating in the “Relay for Life” is a wonderful way to lend support.
Those who want to help, but who cannot walk in the relay; may participate by purchasing a luminary in honor or in memory of someone; donate an item to the auction or come and bid on auction items; have a yard sale and donate the proceeds to cancer research; and ask friends and relatives to get involved.
