The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver killed in fiery wreck in the early morning hours on Monday, Dec. 5th on S.R. 56 in Ohio County.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. on State Road 56 near Dibble Road. Daniel J. Lynch, 40, of 14814 Goodner Road was pronounced dead at the scene.
When officers arrived on scene the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, according to the sheriff report.
Chief Deputy Chad Oakes reported, “It appeared from evidence at the scene that the driver was traveling West in a 2005 Mercury Montego when he failed to navigate a curve in the road. The vehicle then traveled off of the road, striking a tree head-on. The vehicle burst into flames as a result of the impact. The investigation continues pending concerning factors causing the crash.
The Rising Sun Police Department, Rising Sun Fire Department, Ohio County EMS and the Ohio County Coroner assisted at the scene.
