Switzerland County Interdisciplinary team advances to state competition

  On Tuesday, April 16th, the Switzerland County High School Academic Teams had an outstanding night in the Academic Super Bowl competition held at Batesville High School.

  This year’s topic was the ‘Fertile Crescent’. Switzerland County competed in Division 3.

  The Switzerland County science and Interdisciplinary team both earned first place at the district level; while the English team placed second overall and the fine arts team finished third overall.

  After the district competition, Switzerland County team leaders have learned that the Interdisciplinary team’s score ranked them fourth overall in Division 3. That ranking earns the team a place in the State Competition that will be held on Saturday, May 4th.

  The science team ended up with a state ranking of 10th overall, but where just three places away from earning a spot at the state competition, as well.

  The members of the Interdisciplinary team include: Garrett Demaree, Nathan Scranton, Sarah Griffin, Ben Smith, Allison Detmer and Laura Humphrey.

  Other Academic Super Bowl team members included: Samuel White, Trey Gray, Allison Furnish, Kayla Scranton, Alisha Detmer, and Bethany Dashzeveg. The teams are coached by Donna Baker, Barry Smith, Peggy Higgins, Emily Schroeder, Valerie Smith and Michelle White.
