After the winter storm wiped out auditions for the seventh annual “Swiss Idol” talent competition last Friday night, those have now been rescheduled.
The auditions for the competition will now be held on Saturday, March 7th, at 6 p.m. at the Historic Hoosier Theater on Ferry Street in downtown Vevay.
You do not need to be a resident of Switzerland County to enter, however - entrants have to be at least 13 years of age to participate. Previous Swiss Idol first place winners are not eligible to compete.
All performers must pre-register at the Switzerland County Visitors Center in downtown Vevay prior to their audition.
Deadline to pre-register is noon on Friday, March 6th.
People who audition must have prepared two songs, each no longer than four minutes and all auditions are without accompaniment. Finalists will be chosen after auditions by the judges. Notices will be given Monday, February 23rd.
Contestants must sign up before they will be allowed to compete in the auditions. Contestants will be judged on vocals, stage presence, originality and dress.
A total of 12 semifinalists will be chosen to perform at the Hoosier Theater for the finals, of which a new date has not yet been set.
The top three contestants will receive prizes, including a $500 grand prize; $250 for second place; and a $100 third place award.
Space is limited. Pre-registration may be done at the Visitors Center located at 128 West Main Street, Vevay, or by calling (812) 427-3237 or (800) 435-5688.
