Sullivan defeats Emmich in Republican primary race for Auditor

  In what was the most talked about race in this year’s primary, Republican Gayle Sullivan defeated Republican Yvette Emmich in the race to see who will represent their party in the November General Election for the office of County Auditor.

  At the close of the polls on Tuesday, Sullivan emerged as the winner, defeating Emmich by a 524-410 margin. Currently there is no Democrat running for the office of County Auditor.

  Emmich has been serving as the County Auditor since November of last year, when she was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Auditor Carolyn Green.

  Sullivan is currently the County Clerk of the Circuit Court, but has served two terms and is not eligible to serve another term.

  On Tuesday, Sullivan won eight of the county’s 12 precincts. He largest win was in Jefferson II, where she won 65-pecent of the votes cast — 115-63.

  Emmich’s largest victory came in Craig II, where she garnered 66-percent of those votes, 35-18.

  The closest margin in the county came in Cotton II, where Sullivan won by a single vote — 19-18.

  • In Cotton I, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 46-29.

  • In Cotton II, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 19-18.

  • In Craig I, Emmich defeated Sullivan by a margin of 23-21.

  • In Craig II, Emmich defeated Sullivan by a margin of 35-18.

  • In Jefferson I, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 90-76.

  • In Jefferson II, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 115-63.

  • In Jefferson III, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 59-26.

  • In Pleasant I, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 15-9.

  • In Pleasant II, Sullivan defeated Emmich by a margin of 55-38.

  • In Posey I, Emmich defeated Sullivan by a margin of 22-15.

  • In Posey II, Emmich defeated Sullivan by a margin of 31-26.
