For what should be the final summer, officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation have announced that State Road 129 from Vevay to Pleasant is now officially closed so that crews can continue the improvement work on the roadway.

The closure became official this past Monday, April 2nd.

Workers will be continuing to make improvements along the 12 1/2-mile stretch of roadway, and will also be widening the bridge over Indian Creek.

Work started on the project in the spring of 2005; and is expected to be completed by December of this year.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has also listed official detours around the work:

– From State Road 129 South or State Road 250 East: Take highway 250 east to State Road 56; then take highway 56 west to State Road 156; then take either highway 156 or highway 56, depending on destination.

– From State Road 56 West or State Road 56 East: Take highway 56 east to State Road 156; take highway 56 east to State Road 250; and take highway 250 west to State Road 129. Then take highway 129 north to destination.
