The Switzerland County boys varsity soccer team is now state-ranked, earning a win and a tie over the past week.
Shawe Memorial
On Thursday, September 16th, the Pacers beat Shawe Memorial by a final score of 2-0.
Coach David Todd that the game was a very good overall team effort.
Switzerland County out shot the Hilltoppers and also had more shots on goal. It was 15-11 on shots and 9-5 shots on goal.
The Pacers went to the half with a 1-0 lead on a goal very early in the game by Landon Duckworth that was assisted by Austin Bosaw. The second half goal came from Bosaw on a free kick.
Goalie Aiden Furnish had five saves for the game as the Pacers recorded their seventh shutout of the year and sixth in a row.
South Ripley
On Saturday, September 18th, the Pacers and the South Ripley Raiders played to a 3-3 draw in the Pacers Senior Day game.
The Pacers six seniors were recognized before the game. They are: Austin Bosaw, Ben Hicks, Brennan Louden, Zach Nead, Cole Riley, and Ben Smith.
Switzerland County was out shot by the Raiders 20-27. The Raiders also had more shots on goal, and also had more shots on goal. It was 11-21.
The Pacers started the scoring with a goal by Levi Curlin off of a Landon Duckworth assist. Bosaw followed that up when he scored off of a free kick.
The Raiders then scored three goals in a row from a throw in, a penalty kick and a free kick to get us to the half with a score of 2-3.
Cooper Todd tied the game for Switzerland County with a penalty kick in the second half.
Pacer goalie Aiden Furnish had 18 saves for the game.
Switzerland County is now 9-3-1 with a conference record of 6-2-1, and for the first time, the Pacers are ranked 19th in the Class A poll.
