Softball team wraps regular season with two ORVC wins

The regular season wrapped up last week for the Switzerland County Lady Pacer softball team, but Coach Steven Konkle’s charges are hitting their stride heading into Sectional week, earning two big wins last week.

– On Wednesday, May 18th, Switzerland County celebrated Senior Night with a 3-2 win over Southwestern. The Lady Pacers scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the first inning, and then allowed their strong defense and outstanding pitching by senior Kelsi Konkle to carry them to the win.

Konkle went six innings, allowing just five hits and two earned runs. She struck out four and allowed just two walks.

At the plate, Brooke Todd led the way by going 2-for-3 with a double. She stole two bases, scored one run and knocked in another.

Baylie Scudder was 1-for-3 on the night with a run scored and a stolen base; and Bre Braun was also 1-for-3. Taylar Jordan scored a run and had a stolen base.

– The following night, Thursday, May 19th, the Lady Pacers continued their winning ways with an 8-6 win at South Ripley.

This time, Konkle was a force to be reckoned with both on the mound and at the plate, as she went 4-for-4 with a run scored, a stolen base, and an RBI. Pitching, she came in relief to pitch the final five innings, earning the win with five strikeouts and no earned runs allowed.

Kassedy Murray started on the mound and when two innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs.

Todd also continued her hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI; Hope Tankersley was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI; and Braun was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice, a run scored, and an RBI.

Jordan was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI; Scudder was also 1-for-4 with an RBI; Mallory Phagan was 1-for-4 with two RBI; and McKenna Edwards was also 1-for-4.
