Softball team picks up win over Shawe, drops two


The Switzerland County girls varsity softball team had three games over the past week, winning one game and losing two.

– Last Wednesday the Lady Pacers lost to Rising Sun in five innings by a score of 15-0.

Brooke Todd was 1-for-2 with a double; Susie Reyes was also 1-for-2; and McKenna Edwards drew a walk.

Kassidy Murray pitched three innings and suffered the loss; while Kelsi Konkle pitched two innings, striking out three.

– On Friday night Switzerland County fell to Madison by a score of 5-2.

Hope Tankersley was 2-for-2 with a run scored and a sacrifice; Susie Reyes was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI; Taylar Jordan was 1-for-3; and Mallory Phagan was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Brooke Todd was 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases; and Tyler Peelman had a sacrifice.

On the mound, Kelsi Konkle pitched six innings, struck out seven and allowed five hits. Three of the Madison runs were earned.

– On Monday night the Lady Pacers pummeled Madison Shawe by a score of 18-0.

Kelsi Konkle was 4-for-5 at the place with a double, three runs scored, and four RBI; and Brooke Todd was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, a sacrifice, and two RBI.

Taylar Jordan was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs scored; Susie Reyes was 1-for-1 with two runs scored and two RBI; Samantha Christerson was 1-for-3 with a run scored; McKenna Edwards was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI; and Bre Braun was 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI.

Hope Tankersley was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI; Baylie Scudder was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI; Rachel Ard scored a run and stole a base; and Kassidy Murray was 1-for-1 at the plate.

On the mound, Kelsi Konkle went five innings, striking out eight and allowing just three hits.
