Rising Sun Ohio County Community Schools were closed Friday, Jan.12th, on Monday, Jan. 15th and Tuesday, Jan. 16th.
Several inches of snow forced all activities to be canceled.
Originally, Rising Sun had scheduled Monday, Jan. 15th as its first make-up day which was Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Snowfall Sunday evening forced school to be canceled.
Temperatures were expected to be in single figures and below zero according to a wild chill advisory in affect Monday Evening into Tuesday forcing all area schools to close.
The next scheduled make-up day is Monday, Feb. 19th (President’s Day). The second make-up will be on Monday March 19th with the third make-up on Tuesday, March 20th. The school board has annually set aside one week as intersession week and the second week as spring break.
This year the board approved the calender which will have additional make up days being part of intersession week March 19-23. Any later make-up days will be adding days to the end of the school year which ends May 30th.
