Sleepy Hollow set for October 3rd downtown

Switzerland County Tourism will host the 20th annual “Sleepy Hollow Arts and Crafts Fair” on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Vevay.

Along with arts and crafts, the event features a tractor show, apple pie baking contest, pumpkin decorating contest, “Make your own Scarecrow”, artist demonstrations, antique cars, live entertainment, delicious food, and more.

An apple pie baking contest will be held at the Visitors Center.

Pre-baked entries must be delivered to the Visitors Center between 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, and cash prizes will be awarded.

Media personality Tony Mirones from WCPO-Channel 9 in Cincinnati will participate as a pie judge this year.

Also during the Sleepy Hollow Festival everyone will have the chance to view the winning entries in the annual scarecrow contest.

Those winning entries will be selected by celebrity judge Elizabeth J. Musgrave of the West Indianapolis Community News and “Gotta Go” column. Winning entries will be revealed on Friday evening, October 2nd during the “Oktoberfest” First Friday event, which runs downtown from 6-9 p.m.

There will also be live entertainment during Sleepy Hollow, with the “Pure Country” band performing from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and the “Dry Fork” Band performing from 1:30-4 p.m.

Along with many different children’s activities throughout the day, the town will also be visited by a “friendly” headless horseman.
