The short film, “Silo: Edge of the Real World”, which had its world premiere last week at the famed Tribeca Film Festival in New York City; will be shown at the Historic Hoosier Theater in Vevay.
The film will be shown on Friday, May 19th, and will be shown twice: at 7 p.m. and again at 8:30 p.m. There is no charge for the show.
The short film, which centers on a day in the life of a young farmer, Adam Fox of Rising Sun; and also a high school student who is interested in a career in farming, Clay Althoff of Switzerland County; is a vehicle for the development of a feature length film, and that film is expected to begin filming in Kentucky later this year.
The film includes footage shot in Switzerland County High School; in the classroom of agriculture teacher Greg Curlin; and at a Switzerland County Pacer baseball game.
On hand for the film will be the movie’s producer Sam Goldberg of New York City; and director Marshall Burnette of Nashville, Tennessee is also expected to attend, along with other members of the production crew.
At the Vevay showings, Goldberg and Burnette will introduce the film to the audience, telling about the process of developing the story and other aspects of coming to Southeastern Indiana to film the short.
After the film is shown, which runs approximately 11 minutes; the film crew will answer questions from the audience about the film or other aspects of filmmaking.
RSVPs for the 7 p.m. show have been brisk, which is why the 8:30 p.m. viewing has been added.
Those wishing to RSVP may do so by calling the newspaper office at (812) 427-2311 and providing the number of people who will be attending and which showing you want to attend.
